𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘.

Max Banderas and Ruby Martinez were an iconic duo once. Before they'd known anything else, they'd known each other. Trusted and loved each other. They were different but it worked well for them. Max was wild and irresponsible. He ran towards danger, instead of away from it. He made dumb decisions and Ruby was used to having to clean up his messes. He was the voice of reason in their oddly matched friendship. But it seemed like Ruby's company was not enough to keep Max out of danger. He became involved with both the Prophets and the Santos. Playing a middleman and more often providing both sides with information about the other. He was walking on thin ice and soon, the dangers of the life he led bled into their friendship.

Suddenly, Max dropped Ruby, refusing to have anything to do with the boy. No matter how hard Ruby tried, Max pushed him as far away as possible for his own good. The two moved on with their separate lives. Ruby found new friends and Max stayed the same. He remained popular with nearly everybody in Freeridge and continue to live his dangerous life. But he kept tabs on his old friend, helping him out whenever he needed anything, even from the shadows. He never interacted with him, however. At least not until Ruby's friend, Cesar was initiated into Los Santos and Ruby, in extension, became affiliated with the life that Max had tried so hard to keep him out of.

And when the new girl moves into Ruby's own home and he has to watch his old friend throw himself at a girl that is not good enough for him, Max can't help but intervene. After all, Ruby would be happier with him.

✦The reason Max pushed him away was that he pissed off a lot of people in the Prophets but leaking their secrets and they threatened to hurt Ruby so he figured that if they weren't friends anymore, he'd be safer.
