No one knows for sure when it all began. All the greatest historians throughout the universe can do is speculate. This is the result of their speculations.

In a time before time was recorded, there were the Gods. The mother, Caldisa. The Father, Bailgroth. The eldest son, Mardikas. And the youngest son, Saluth. They enjoyed the cosmos for an unknown period of time before the same thing struck them that struck most Gods. Boredom. There was simply nothing for them to do anymore. It was thanks to the youngest God, Saluth, that they found a new calling.

They wanted a people to love and worship them. To entertain them and keep them company. So Saluth and the others created the first race of humanoid beings. Made in the images of the Gods these people were merely the first. Within a few weeks of standard time the Gods created their people and the planet they live on, and the Gods were happy. They stayed with their people and taught them the secrets to their great magic for a thousand years. But it was at this point they felt this people they created were imperfect. They were unable to breed properly on their own and their race was small. It was after these thousand years that the Gods left to another dimension, created by Bailgroth.

Here they repeated their process, they created a new planet and a new people. They hoped to fix their mistake but with one minor alteration. They believed it was the magic they had taught their first race that reduced their population and this time focused on that. This second race was taught sciences rather than magics and their race flourished. However due to this change in development the second race grew distant from the Gods. They began to meddle in Godly affairs and discovered how they were being held back from greatness. This was due to Saluth. He had told them of magic against his families wishes thus earning him their ire. Knowing they had failed again in making the perfect race they had fled again to another dimension to start over. It was at this point that the second people's hatred began.

This continued on. Thousands upon thousands of years passed as the Gods moved on to new dimensions, creating new planets, staying for a thousand years and then leaving. It was after the first few thousand years that historians lost track of the Gods. It is believed they had finally found their perfect planet and perfect people and here they decided to live among those people and live the rest of eternity in a happy paradise.

But the first two races, created long ago had continued to develop and learn. And eventually learned how to traverse dimensions just as the Gods could. When the two races met, it was with blade and fire.

The first race, the first people, called themselves The Guardians of The Gods. Feeling it was their place to defend the holy beings. They believed The Gods were perfect and could never make a mistake. They continued to worship and honor The Gods knowing that one day they would return.

The Second Race, called themselves The Legion of The Gods. They felt they had been betrayed and left behind by The Gods. They knew The Gods were imperfect and corrupt and filled with greed. They wanted their vengeance and would get their revenge by going to every realm created by the Gods and destroying them until they were the only race left. At that point the Gods would have no choice but to love them again. If the Gods didn't, then they would find a way to kill Gods.

This was the first inter-dimensional war. The Guardians used magic and swords. The Legion used swords and steam powered inventions. Their war spanned across the cosmos, engulfing dozens of different worlds. While the Guardians were overall more powerful, there were thirty Legion soldiers for every single Guardian soldier. The Guardians simply couldn't be everywhere at once and couldn't compete with the devious cunning of The Legion. They were powerful and everywhere and the Guardians soon found themselves backed into a corner. That was when their greatest hero arrived.
