Clary's POV

10 minutes. I've been waiting here for my best friend, Simon, for 10 minutes. He promised we'd meet here after our first day of the senior year. Where is he?

I'm at the starbucks near school. We usually come here every friday after class but since today is our first day of senior year, we decided to meet.

I've already drank my latte and ate a muffin. I was about to loose my hope when I hear the door open. I look up, hoping it's Simon, but quickly get disappointed when I see Alec.

Not that I don't like Alec, he's an amazing person. I mean, he's also annoying but that's irrelevant now. He comes in the café with all his group.

Unlike me, Alec is popular. He has the hottest girls falling for him but he's gay and he's dating one of my best friends, Magnus.

Basically my group is Alec, Izzy, Magnus, Simon, Maia and Raphael. I hang out with them at school and outside school but they have their personal lives too. Alec is older than us but he started a year late. I remember him telling me that one of his best friend's started a year late so they have some classes together but I don't remember who.

"Are you here alone, little girl?" Alec comes up to me and asks. He sits next to me while his friends find a table.

"Yes. Simon was supposed to be here too but I don't know where he is." I tell him.

"I think I saw him with Izzy but try calling him." He says. He then stands up and looks at me. "Do you want to join us?" He asks and points to a group of people. Mostly boys with a few girls from the cheerleading group.

I smile. "No thanks. I think I'm just going home." I say. He leaves and sits next to his friends. I start getting my things. I was sketching while waiting for Simon.

When I was walking down the street, I feel someone touch my shoulder. I look at the person. A boy with golden hair and golden eyes. I recognize him from school. He's one of the populars and hangs out with Alec all the time.

"Hey?" I say. Maybe he got the wrong person. Why would he be talking to me?

"Hi" the boy says. "You left this at the café." He gives me a few pages that must have fallen out of my sketchbook.

"Oh, thanks." I smile and grab them. I look around and see people looking at us and whispering.

"I'm Jace." He says and smiles. I smile too.

"Clary." I answer. I look up to the sky and notice some clouds. It's probably gonna rain. "I should go" I say and start walking to the subway. I live in Brooklyn but I got a schoolarship in a school in Manhattan.

"Do you need a ride home?" he asks. "I'm going home too."

I look back at him. "I live in Brooklyn. It's probably too far from where you live and I'm good going by subway."

He laughs and grabs his car keys from his pockets. "I don't care. It's going to rain" he points at the sky. "So come on." He gets into a black car. I hesitate but then I get in too.

It started raining a few minutes after. We took a while getting to my appartment due to traffic but neither of us noticed how long it was since we were distracted in a conversation.

Jace seems like a really interesting person. He told me about him. He lives in Manhattan with his grandmother, Imogine Herondale. His parents passed away when he was 10 and he started school one year later, just like Alec. We noticed that we have most classes together.

He didn't believe him when I told him that I had to wake up at 6am so I could get out at 7am. Our school starts at 8.30am and I still need to wall to the subway and then to school.

"Thanks for the ride." I say and smile at him. He smiles back.

I get out of the car. I look back at him to see him looking at me. Probably waiting for me to get in. I smile at that thought and get in the building. I live on the 12th floor. The house is small. It has two bedrooms, one for me and one for my brother, one small kitchen and a small living room.

Our parents passed away on a car accident when I was 16. My brother is two years older than me. He was 18 at the time. We had some money so we moved to a smaller appartment and he's in college, studying marketing. He is also taking care of our father's business so we can get some money and sometimes, I help in a chinese restaurant called Jade's Wolf. Luke, our parent's friend, goes there a lot and got me this job. He helps a lot here at home but he's working most of the time and has a place to himself. He workd at the NYPD.

My brother, Jonathan, is never home too. Usually he's in college studying or at some friend's house.

Since no one is home, I decide to eat some cereal. It's getting late and I don't feel like making dinner.

I go shower first and then I grab a bowl pf cereal. I was about to watch a movie when I hear my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I say.

"Biscuit, come open the door." Magnus says at the other side and then hangs up.

I laugh and open the door. Magnus comes in and lays on the couch. I sit next to him while eating my cereal.

"So, you and Jace?" Magnus asks and smirks. "Everyone is talking about it."

"I just met him. He gave me a ride home and we talked. He seems nice." I tell Magnus.

Magnus tells me everything that people are saying. There are rumours that we're dating but than, some people say it's probably a dare. I tell him everything that has happened. We talk for hours.

When we notice, it's already midnight. Magnus goes home and I go to sleep, wondering how a boy like Jace could even talk to a girl like me. Maybe it's just a dare? I mean, some people are saying that but he doesn't seem like that kind of person. Than again, I barely know him.
