I'm Back

I awoke with a start from my nightmare. It was a regular thing, almost as if they had a set time every day. I dreamt of Mon-El again, that's all I dream about. It's been 8 months since I sent him away in that tiny pod, off into the blackness of space. I never thought I would see him again. Every night I  stare at the ceiling instead of sleeping, because when I close my eyes I dream of him dying. I see him drifting farther and farther into the blackness of space... and then I wake up. Sometimes I wish I wouldn't. But I'm Supergirl. The people need me to protect them, duty over personal issues.

But then there was that ship...a ship that was nothing more than a blessing and a curse. A foreign ship crash landed near the DEO. My troop and I (Which consisted of Winn, J'onn, my sister, and me.) I remember hearing someone in one of the control rooms... so J'onn and I went to investigate. Out of nowhere, a man holding a gun ran towards me. I ran towards him in return, preparing for a fight. We stopped dead in our tracks as we realized who each other was.

"Mon-El?" I choked out. There he was. Seven months of dreaming, hoping, and praying finally ceased. I felt the world lifting off of my shoulders, and I went weak at the knees. He lowered his gun, dropped it, and stood there before me, his mouth wide open.

"Kara..." He said as I walked towards him slowly, still trying to decide whether this all was real. Silently, I touched his face, and gazed into his eyes. I felt the sting of the tears arrive in my own eyes. I hugged him, and he hesitantly hugged me back. I closed my eyes and embraced this new feeling of relief. Something I haven't had in a long time. When he pulled away, he smiled at me. It wasn't a whole smile, more like a smile of relief.

" I-I can't believe it's really you... I'm back." Mon-El said, looking confused yet almost happy.I smiled, unaware that this would be the last time I felt this way. The feeling I felt on this day was something now I fear I will never feel again. Hope.
