"Kelsey! Oh mon Dieu! You look gorgeous! Look at that face, no imperfections! Tu ressembles à un million de dollars!" Whisper shouted a petite woman with a thick French accent next to me in the dress section of Dior.
"I missed you, Claude. You have to tell me all about the new job au plus vite!"
"Oh, my love, I'm sure you have been holding up beautifully without me. I can tell, ey."
"Holding up? À peine! I could hardly find a new shopper after you. You left a mark, C."
"Oh, mon amour, don't speak like that. You have such classic taste, it would be a shame for someone to, how do you say, fuck it up." The last line came with a giggle. She ways did giggle, even though not much was funny.
"Claude, she is dastardly. A friend of my sister, I should have known she was no good."
"I am so sorry to hear," cut off by a text, the girl hazily sighs, "I have to go. A client is waiting. My love, take care, ouais?"
"Of course, good luck my love. Same to you."
The two exchange a friendly kiss and see to their own paths.
I had been watching the girls for about 15 minutes now. Not at all by some purposeful, intent bounty, but she's been holding up the line for that amount of time. I hate Monaco. I'm purely here on business and I never want to come back. Everyone seems to be so head-in-the-ass obsessed with it, but I personally think you can flex your money anywhere and just because Grace Kelly was the princess for a short-lived period of time and the water happens to be absolutely fucking gorgeous, Monaco doesn't have to be the place you do it. People are so into themselves that they can't hear the groans and sighs of people behind them just waiting to pay for their shit. Does Dior really have to be the place you have a catch up chit-chat with you ex-personal shopper?
Aside from this, I have a plane to catch in three hours and I need to get back to my hotel room before my reservation ends. Just as I was about to say something to the cherry blonde bombshell chatting it up in front of me, she turns and says probably some of the sweetest words I've ever heard from somebody with pink hair.
"Do you speak English?"
Beautiful.
"Yes."
"I love your eyeliner! It's so minimal, I don't see many natural beauties in Monaco. It's so bland here, nobody knows how to dress and everybody is like, so stuck up. Se mettre d'accord?" definitely was not expecting that.
"Thank you! I completely agree with you. I fucking hate it here." I decided to act like I wasn't eavesdropping on her conversation, "What's your name?"
"I'm Kelsey. Yours?"
"Chandler."
