05 | placement

It seems like most of you guys are wanting handy tips and finishing touches so I decided to make a chapter for some handy tips about the placement of titles on a book cover. There are so many different places to put them but in this chapter I'm just going to show a few common ones. But if you've made covers that don't fit this criteria but look good anyway then you've done a good job!

The first placement I'll show you is top placement:

And bottom placement:

Top placement and bottom placement are two of the most common and neatest places to put your title both when you're just starting out and also for those who are more advanced in my opinion. Though remember not every placement fits every image, a lot of the time you can't just whack a title on there, you have to fit it into the image.

Another placement, less common than top and bottom placing for a title is middle. Though do be careful with this one because it's more dependent on what image you have for it to work.

So those are the three most common places for titles, but remember they're not the only places! Take a look at the image or background you'll be putting them on, play around a bit with it, see what looks best.

Also one thing to keep in mind when adding titles is don't let them be too close to the edges of the cover itself otherwise it usually looks messy and not very nice.
