"I can ask my mom." I tell her.
"Great! Can y'all come?" She asks. Everyone shakes their heads.
"Wait? Everyone's going? Like even the boys." I whisper quietly to Monse.
"Yeah. It's kinda normal for us." She laughs. I just shake my head. Then I see Jamal come back to our table. He sits down and open his water bottle.
"What are we doing tonight?" He asks.
During my last class, I can't wait to get home. I hope my mom lets me go. I'm in desperate need for some new friends.

When I get home, her cars not in the driveways. "Mom!!!!" I shout running up to her room, but she's not there. I go back to the kitchen reading the note on the counter.
"Sorry baby girl, can't make it home tonight. I'll be home by tomorrow after school. Be safe and don't open the door. There's pizza rolls in the freezer for dinner. Call me when you get the chance!!!

Great! Now I can for sure go. Walking out my door, I type her address into my GPS app. It's too far, I have to ride my bike.

Knocking on the door, there seems to be no one home. But when Monse opens the door, I'm the last one to arrive. I'm really sweaty from riding all the way to her house from mine.
"Sorry I'm late. I didn't think it was this far." I say walking to where they where sitting.
"Feel free to sit anywhere." Cesar tells me, but Monse tells us something different.
"No! How about, we go to my room and play a game."
We all agree and I follow behind. "What do you think?" Ruby asks me.
"About what?"
"Us. Our, group."
"I think it's cute."
"Really? Don't tell me you like Cesar!" He whisper shouts.
"Not my type." I laugh.
"Why don't we play Truth or Dare?" Mamas suggests as we close the door.
"Yes! I love that game!" Olivia says jumping on the bed. "Let's get in a circle and go clockwise." As we get situated, Monse starts by spinning the bottle.
"Oh! Jamal!"
"At least the bottle didn't forget about me." He complains.
"Truth or dare?"
"Dare. If I you told me truth, I'd probably spill a secret and get int trouble." He tells us.
"I dare you to....." she stops and thinks, "not eat any snacks until 10. Which is in 2 hours. Not that long, right?"
"What?! No, no, no. I need snack! You know that!"
"Sorry. You chose dare. Y/n! Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Did you have a boyfriend in Chicago?"
"I wish, but no."
We continue the game and I get to know them little by little. By the time we know it, it's almost midnight. And Jamal lost his dare, he said he needed to use the restroom, but they caught him eating cookies in the pantry.
"Why don't you guys just sleep over?" Monse tells us. "It's almost 12 and I'm pretty sure it's not safe for y'all to be walking back to your houses."
"I can text my mom." Jamal says, they all agree.
"What about you, y/n? Can you stay?" Monse asks.
"Yeah. My moms not even home, so." I shrug my shoulders.
After everyone's parents agreed, we all stayed up to watch a movie. But everyone fell asleep but me and Ruby.
"I love scary movies." He tells me.
"Me too. Even though they keep me awake at night." I giggle.
"That's a cute laugh." I guess he didn't realize what he had said until he actually said it. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it like that-"
"You didn't? I was kinda hoping you did." I told him facing back at the TV.
"Really?" He asks.
"Yeah." I smile.
"In that case, I did mean it that way." He says getting closer. By the end of the movie, I didn't even realize we'd been holding hands. He realized it to I guess cause he was about to move it when I tightened my grip a little.
"Is this okay?" He asks me, looking quite concerned. It's cute.
"It's perfect."
