she looked at you
and elephants stomped in her stomach,
clouds fuzzed her mind,
and the moon shone in her eyes.
it was all a big lie;
love, it had made her go blind
because you, wanted to die.
all she could think of was you;
your honey coloured eyes,
your silky soft hair,
your bright smile.
oh that beautiful smile, it was not truly bright,
it did not reach your eyes,
but for you, she would put up a fight.
you were sad, so very sad,
you wanted to give up,
give up on life.
so she tried her best, to save that boy;
she made you laugh,
and even got you out of your house,
on those nights when you cried yourself to sleep
she was there, on the phone, lulling you 'till you fell asleep;
'till she no longer heard your weep.
soon it all crumbled,
all of her hope,
all of her her love.
she felt like she was stabbed,
in the heart, with a rusty knife.
it was hard, trying to save someone,
who did not want to be saved.
so she dried her tears,
and goodbye she waved,
standing tall, with her head held high,
she let go of her fears,
she let go of you.
all she was left with was,
the bitter after-taste of burning hate
and emptiness, aching in her chest.
one day, she would love again,
because she was fire,
and it took more than pain,
to kill her bright flame.
