When I pressed on the bell, I waited longer than I should've. I kinda expected someone to come over and open the door right away. I walked a step back when I heard Sakura's voice in the house. The cold obviously didn't like me. It made me rub my hands a bit.
"Fine!" I heard Sakura yell. "I'll get it."
And so she opened the door. "Oh," she said. "We thought you were Yvette."
"Yvette?"
"A girl. That's all you need to know."
I rolled my eyes. She swiftly jumped onto the couch as I entered and closed the door. Y was sitting there, looking at me like I'm some stranger. Ms. Gabena slid into the living room, "Hia X! You can go ahead and play the piano if you'd like."
I shrugged. I figured so since I was literally the only boy in the house at the moment. I dropped onto the stool and then started playing the song on the music sheet that was in front of me.
A few girls came over and literally stared at my fast fingers. Y and Sakura did not come over, but I didn't really care.
All I want you to be is a brother to me.
It echoed. Loudly. Very loudly. I slowed down in the middle. Then, I accelerated from there. Y's mother entered the living room and sat, listening to me. As I hit the twenty bar, I heard Y's violin taking over. I was with her in the music. Sakura was literally cheering for Y, "Go! Massacre those strings!"
I don't think those are the best words for an encouragement..?
Y's bow got slower as we got closer to the end. I followed her decrease in speed. The ending scared me. It was a quick high note. I rushed for the high note, but Y already had went. I froze.
They all clapped. Well, except for Sakura. She was hugging Y. "You're sooo cool!"
"Y," her mother said. "Get your cake."
The violinist nodded and ran to the kitchen. She came back with a birthday cake. The girls pushed me back onto the piano stool and placed a sheet of music onto the stand. It was the music for 'Happy Birthday'. Y looked at me and tried to smile.
"Happy Birthday, Y."
She smiled even more. "Thank you."
And you can guess what happened. Girls sang, I played, she blew, and the girls screamed with joy. Ms. Gabena and I exchanged glances as the girls literally hugged her everywhere. We were silently giggling.
A ring was heard from the door bell. I looked out the window. Ada Eden. Y opened the door and welcomed her in. "So. Xavier's here?" Ada asked, seeing me.
"I guess yeah," Y replied. "You missed the candle blowing."
"Aw okay."
Ada signaled me to the kitchen. And so
I went. When I entered, Ada was crossing her arms. "Y said you weren't coming."
"My father forced me."
"Is everything supposed to be about your father?"
I froze. But she continued, "Every time you go somewhere, the reason is either your father or your sister. It's mostly your father. Aren't you able to make your own decisions?"
It was true. Ever since my mother passed, my father sent me to places. Vonnie had told me he wanted me to go and forget what happened. I shrugged.
Ada was shaking her head. "I visited Willow the other day. I held her hand and I felt pain—."
"Why did you hold her hand when you barely know her?"
She paused with her mouth open. "You're an idiot!" Ada threw her purse at me. It was a hard one. "Don't you know how much Willow has done?! Do you?! She's done a lot for a lot of people! Her life means so much to everyone!"
"As if."
"Just go away. It hurts to see her so pale."
"What did she do for you?"
Ada started sobbing. I realized everyone was looking through the kitchen door, wanting to know how I made a girl cry. "Willow helped me build my little flying structure and she lend a hand for me so I could achieve my goal."
"You bullied her once."
"Well..."
"Isn't that correct?"
"..."
"So you did."
"Willow wasn't spending time with me.."
"She has a life too."
Ada turned away from me. While blushing really hard, she asked: "Do you hate me, Xavier?"
I slapped her and I felt Y's gaze.

"You did what?!" Vonnie screamed. I shrugged, "Not so hard."
"Why did you do that?"
"She used Willow and.."
"And what?!"
Then I remembered it. I saw Ada with a man that looked similar to the one that started the fire. I saw them on Wednesday.
"She's with the Red Suits."
Vonnie shook her head vigorously, "No, no, no! She isn't!"
"Calme-toi, Vonnie." I told her.
Calm down, Vonnie.
She ignored me. "Ada est une fille douce! Elle ne les aiderait jamais à mettre ... ensemble ... allumer des feux!"
Ada is a sweet girl! She would never help them set... set... set fires!
"Je l'ai vue avec un costume rouge."
I saw her with a Red Suit.
"Quand?! X, quand?!"
When?! X, when?!
"Two days before."
Vonnie was crying. I think I didn't said that she used to be a flying instructor. She had taught Ada. My father started sniffling downstairs.
