Y immediately said, "Oh! Yeah.."
"Why is it in your garage?"
"Well.."
"What?"
"Willow came to my house one day with her bicycle but left it here."
"Okay. She never told me though."
"Oh." Y wore a guilty face.
Y was the kind of person that would never say 'uh'. She always seemed to know what she was going to say. I frowned. Y looked very tired. She was slouching ever since the end of school. "You know a girl once told me, 'You know, crouching all the time isn't good for your spine. Yer gotta have a straight back!'"
Y smiled. She straightened her back before dragging me out of the garage with her. She pulled me out pretty hard.
Before the ball dropped, I had prayed that this year would be better than last year. I recited the prayer in my head while dealing with her painful grip. I think I'm sounding pathetic right now.

When we finally arrived at an abandoned school, Y was looking at her surroundings. Well I didn't ask her what that building was, I just assumed it was a school. Y turned on her phone and I peeked at the time. It had hit four P.M.
Then a girl that looked a little older than us appeared. She held up a PokéDex to Y. A dexholder. Then she put the PokéDex back into her bag. The dexholder smiled.
"Hello, Dexholder Crystal."
"Hia, Yvonne!" she said. "It's nice to finally meet you!"
Crystal turned to me. "Oh, you must be Xavier."
"Uh yeah. Hello."
Y pointed at a window of the abandoned building. "That's where I used to stand and play."
"I'm guessing that was the music room of the high school."
"Mhm.."
"Yvonne?"
"Yeah! I'm good."
"Okay, let's go inside then."
And that's how I ended up in a dark building. Crystal and Y went in like there was treasure. I came in like it was hell. I didn't know how they just passed the threatening graffiti like it was nothing. I passed it like it was a bug. Speaking of bugs, Crystal found one right after we finally passed the graffiti. "A tiny Joltik! Now let's get some data on here.."
I looked around. The only light I saw was the one from the entrance. Then I saw it, it was a fire that burned the school. I heard Willow's screams in my mind.
Willow had one day come back in her sundress. It was burnt. She said she had visited a campfire. I knew she was lying. She had that guilty face.
My mother and father just let her go on that, but they told her to save up on her own for a new sundress. Willow agreed, weakly.
After a talk with Vonnie, Willow let me in. She told me she had told Vonnie what happened and so I left. So that's how Vonnie was the one to tell me what occurred. "Willow was visiting her violin teacher's house and a fire appeared out of nowhere."
Willow lied. Sniffling, she entered Vonnie's room and begged, "Please don't tell Mommy and Daddy."
Vonnie replied calmly, "We won't."
