"Excuse me, is this seat taken?"

You look up to see a brunette man, his eyes staring at yours making you nervous. You never were great at speaking nor even making eye contact with guys and people in general. You never liked too. One, because you become a nervous wreck. And, two, you weren't so great at speaking the main language here in America. You've had problems every since you were little. Your pronunciation has pulled you back from talking to others. Everyday, you tried your best, practicing the right pronunciation for each word. But you couldn't speak one sentence without it being broken. So, you decided to just avoid others and try not to start a conversation with them. You kept to yourself. Or at least you tried.

You shook your head and moved towards the right, "no." You mumbled.

He smiles and sighs in relief, "ahh, thank you. I thought I would collapsing at any moment if I didn't get a seat." He sat down, his leg pressed against yours, making you scoot over more.

"Sorry, I don't mean to be in your bubble." He chuckled, scooting to the opposite side as well. You gave him a small smile and looked away.

The subway began its way towards its next destination, his shoulder this time, touching yours. Your lips formed a thin line.

"What's your name?" He asked.

You glanced at him and folded your hands over your lap, "y/n."

"Nice to meet you y/n, i'm Shawn."

Shawn gave you smile which you returned and continued staring ahead. Hoping he wouldn't ask any more questions which didn't happen.

"How old are you? May I ask."

You mentally cursed and tried your best to sound fluent. "I'm uh, n-nine... te-teen." Your cheeks flushed in embarrassment, knowing he would find it funny, the way you talked.

Shawn smiled, "nineteen? no way, I'm nineteen as well!"

You slightly furrowed your eyebrows together, wondering why he wasn't judging the way you talked. Usually when you talked to others, they either laughed or just plainly tell you how to say it correctly. But with him, he didn't mind.

You just nodded in reply.

"Don't worry." He said, making you turn your head fully at him. Getting a better look at him. He was very, very attractive.

You tilted your head in confusion. "You're scared I'll judge your accent." He replied.

You looked away, "h-how."

"I can just tell by the way you're replying to me.. wait. Or you just don't understand what I'm saying?" He began to panic which made you giggle.

"I-I und-derstand you."

"Oh good. I wouldn't want to confuse you or anything."

You gave him a smile, admiring his kindness towards you even though you just met. "Thanks."

"No problemo y/n. Your accent is cute anyway, I don't understand why you keep it hidden."

Your cheeks flushed again. The compliment making you a blushing mess throughout the whole ride.
