What if?

It was Sunday afternoon, Monique was on the park, staring at the children playing. Daniel, a smart, generous, thoughtful and good looking guy was also there at that time.

One day, when Monique was on her way home, her phone beeped. She opened it and delightedly read the message of Daniel.

She felt uneasy. "What do you mean?". She replied. After a minute her phone beeps again. "I love you and I mean every word.Will you be my girlfriend?"

Gosh! her heart began to beat faster and faster and she can feel the blood going straight up her head.

Monique keeps on thinking in how to respond to that message. Then she realized that she was very much in love with him.

"You rock my simple world from the day that I met you, Dan.... I also love you and I'm willing to be your girlfriend," she replied. That was the beginning of Monique's beatitude.

Monique was heading for home when she received a phone call from Daniel.
"Hello, Hon, I'll be there after dinner.I'll take you to my favourite place" Daniel said . "Ok," she replied.

It's already 9 o'clock in the evening when Dan arrived. When they reached the park, Monique was amazed.

It's near and that night, the stars were shining so brightly. They sat on the bench and hugged each other.

"Hon, do you think we're going to last forever?" he asked."Of course, yes. Know what, I'm so happy that God allowed me to enter your life. You're such a blessing in disguise,"she replied and hugged him tighter.

That time, Monique becomes more passionate. "Hon, do you really love me?" she asked. Daniel held her hand amd said, "Yes! Count all the stars you see tonight and that's how much I love you," Daniel emotionally answered.

"Really? What if I'm going to die tomorrow? Will you cry? Will you still remember me?" she consequently  asked.

Tranquility beseiged the place, her tears overflow. "Of course I will, the girl who changed me, the girl I dreamed of and I love the will be gone forever, I will mourn for it and I think I can't accept it," he replied and then kissed her forehead.

"If I am going to die this night, I will tell God to guide you always and whisper in your ears and heart that I love you so much."

Silence ruled the place. "Honey, look into my eyes what if you found out later that I'm already taken  and I already have a son or I'm just playing? what will you do?", he asked.

Monique's world stopped. Her tears flowed rapidly. She looked up in the sky, "You're just kidding right?" she asked. "yes, I am. Stop crying. Now I know how much you love me. I love you." It's already 11 o'clock in the evening when they decided to go home.

A day before their first anniversary, bad news came.

A lady called her up, "I'm the girlfriend of Dan, so will you stop flirting my man? He's already mine and we already have a son."

Monique was shocked."What are you talking about?I know you're just kidding,"

She replied. "Hahaha.... You're such a fool! Daniel is the type of person who only loves himself so you better stop acting like that," the lady said "I'm going to send a picture of Dan with our baby."

After an hour, a man handed her a brown envelope. She opened it and saw the picture.

Monique's heart was breaking ! then, her phone rang.

"Honey, I'm sorry. I was drunked when it all happened and when she told me that she was pregnant, I have no choice but, I'll face what I've done because her parents told me that they're going to kill me including my family. I admit that I'm a playboy, but I changed when I met you. Please forgive me," he confessed.

Monique can't open her mouth to respond. She quivered, she can't breath. Suddenly, she fell on the floor. Monique was rushed to the hospital.

After an hour, Daniel came. He was feeling pins and needles while thinking what was happening inside the E.R.

The doctor went out, "Doc, how's my girl?"

" We did everything to save her but she's gone " the doctor was teary eyed

"Before she went away, she told me to inform you that she loves you so much." Dan was crying. He felt helpless and frustrated. He blamed himself why Monique died.

A year later, Daniel visited Monique's tomb. He brought pink roses which was her favourite flower.

He sat down and lighted a candle. "It's been a year since you left me hon, but my love for you is still the same. I want you to know that I miss you and I love you so much. I'm sorry for everything. Thank you for changing me for the better. I want you to know that I'm going to love you forever. Eventhough we are living in a different world, my love for you knows no distance. I love you."
