Spent a hour at one of those large bookstores (you know the kind where you can get an over-priced coffee and wander about, wasting an entire day) trying to find a good sci-fi middle-grade novel. Turned out to be near impossible.
So, with the help of my 8 year-old son, I'm going to write one. He'll be my beta reader and he'll have input as to the plot, story arc, character development and so on. It will be our book, but we are going to share it with you.
I don't like "dumbing down" things for kids, because I know they are smart. One of my son's jobs to that end is to flag down some of the trickier words and we'll include a glossary with every chapter.
Target age 9-13, so I'll be keeping it clean.
Hope you all enjoy it.
