EXTENDED SUMMARY:
Mateo wasn't anything special. He wasn't the son of a famous hero. He was a son of two civilians who had observed the heroes throughout their accomplishments.
So when Mateo gains the attention of Prince Ben, son of Belle and Beast, next in line to the throne, no one is more surprised than Mateo. The two grow closer and closer until Mateo can't glance at Ben without his heart fluttering in his chest.
And just as he thinks that something may happen, the Daughter of Maleficent comes to Auradon sweeping Ben off his feet, leaving Mateo to observe in the shadows.
But, after eating several tubs of cookies and cream ice cream and a stern talking to from his friends, Mateo comes to the conclusion that he wouldn't do what his parents did and observe. And he was going to fight for him.
NOTES:
— Mateo is very shy and has only one or two friends. If you want to use characters from the movies I'd suggest Lonnie, Jane or Doug, but you can also use ocs.
— This is a really slow burn and you can decide if he and Ben get together or if he chooses Mal
— I imagine he gets on quite well with Evie and Carlos but finds Jay and Mal quite intimidating. He also finds Ben and all the children of Auradon intimidating as well.
— Mateo is gay and is open about it.
— I imagine Ben would be apprehensive about their relationship being public, as he would be scared about being open about his sexuality. Please include internalised homophobia
