Hey! You may notice I changed the description and plot line. Hehehe! I didn't like the one I had, it was too cliche. Sorry, this chapter is really short.
hapter 4:
“Oh, sweetheart, it’s so good to see you! It’s been like, what, two months?” my mother called from the door of her house.
I nodded. “Bye Dad, love you.” I said, looking to the car, waving goodbye to my father.
“Love you too.” and with that, he drove off.
“So, how’s ninth grade?” my mom asked, ushering me into the house.
“Um, I’m in tenth.” I said, looking at my feet. How could she get that wrong? I’m her own daughter.
“I said tenth.” my mom said. No, you really didn’t, mother.
“It’s fine, I guess.” I said, shrugging. Tenth grade really wasn't fine, it was school, so it sucked, but was I gonna tell her that? No way.
“Great. Do you have boyfriend?” she asked, winking. Why was she asking this?
“No, um, Dad won’t let me have one.”
“Oh, that old fart. He doesn’t let you do a darn thing.”
nI flinched at her words. All my life, my dad, although he was strict, was there. My mom, however, was never there. They got divorced when I was like, six, and ever since my mom has ran wild. She goes to Las Vegas every other weekend (when I’m supposed to stay at her house) and- well technically I have no idea what she does, I’m too afraid to ask. Finally, this weekend she was here, but the thing is, I don't really wanna be here.
“It’s fine, really. I don’t really want a boyfriend.” I said, nonchalantly.
“Sure you don’t. Anyways, at my house, you have my rules. I say, you can have a boyfriend.”
“Okay.” I said, this was really awkward and random. Typical of her.
“I’m gonna go watch TV.” I said, and walked into the living room
I turned on the tv and flipped through channels.
Oooh, one of my favorite shows, ‘Can You Write?’ was on. And, it was the season finale. How could I forget that?!
Basically, every season, people send in a fifty-page short story, and 25 of those people are chosen to come on the show. Then, those 25 chosen people write a nonfiction short piece and a fiction short piece, maximum 45 pages, and it can be downloaded on Amazon, iTunes, etc. for free. People then vote for the best stories, and the person with the most votes wins and gets $500,000 and best of all, publicity!
“And the season 3 winner is… Rebecca Gurdel!” the announcer said, and a middle-aged woman dressed in a tight red dress walked across the stage, and took the check.
Dang, I voted for someone else. Rebecca wrote the most boring out of all of them. My personal favorite was the fantasy writer, Simon Fitzherbert.
“Okay, that ends season 3. But, listen up! Next season, instead of having the eighteen plus age limit, we’re having a special teen writing season! So, if you're between the age of 14-18, send your audition pieces to this link.”
I screamed into a pillow and wrote down the link! This was the most exciting thing ever! I was so gonna do it!
