I took in the the roof of the hospital. "River!" I squealed. With all the energy I could muster, I ran over to him and threw my frail, pale arms around his muscular, tan body.

"Do you like it?" He asked his eyes frantically searching mine. I looked around at the roof.

In the middle of the open space was a table lit by candle light that had a magical aurora to it. In the back corner, a bed of blankets and pillows had been set up with a projector behind them that alighted a large, control box. My mind could not comprehend that River, a normal boy, had done this for me, a bedridden, hybrid leukemia filled girl.

I shook my head at River in amazement, "How couldn't I?"

A wide smile spread across River's full, pink lips. "Yes!" River picked me up and spun me around. I felt sick, but I didn't care. River was the only thing on my mind.

He carefully set me down. "How did I ever live without you?" River questioned aloud, his southern dialect smoothly washing over me.

One of River's big, smooth hands took one of my bony, frail hands into his own as he led me to the table. Like a gentleman, River pulled out one of the chairs for me. I watched his fluid, confident movements in fascination. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't pull my eyes away from him.

"I know you don't really eat, so I just got us soup," River pointed to the chicken noodle soup in front of us, before looking up at me for approval.

I smiled at him, "Hospital soup, my favorite." He laughed at my sarcasm, a sweet sound that made the hairs on my arms stand up.

River raised his eyebrows, "You know what's my favorite?"

"What?"

"You, Princess." A million butterflies flew around in my stomach. Blood rushed to my face, setting my cheeks on fire. I opened and closed my mouth, but each time I couldn't think of what to say, so I stayed quiet. River smirked in satisfaction.

River and I talked for what seemed to be hours on the roof, the whole time both of us fully intrigued by what the other was saying. We had been this way since we first met. Each enchanted by the other.

We finally went over to lay on the makeshift bed of blankets and pillows when the moon was high in the sky. River tucked me into his side, his arm around my shoulders and my head on his chest. A feeling of euphoria filled me.

River looked down at me, his eyes twinkling like the stars above us. "I love you, Ella." My whole soul screamed in excitement and elation. "I love everything about you, and I always will."

"I love you more, River." I leaned up and kissed him. It was exhilarating, and I knew that River and I were meant for each other.
