“Studying gravity and physics, obviously.”
Nathan rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair as he thought. He only had to get through finals, and then he was done.
Done with college. That was a scary thought. It’d already been three years. Soon he’d be graduating, and… his mind immediately went back to what Evan had said before, about the mating with Varian. He hadn’t really thought about it before then. He had no idea if Varian had even thought about it. So it was best to just forget about it, he decided. He already had enough to deal with.
Speaking of graduation, he still needed to get his cap and gown. He should probably do that.
“Come on, let’s go.” Nathan said, standing up from the chair and stretching for a minute before going over to his bed and slipping his shoes on. Vince frowned, looking over at him.
“Go where?”
“Narnia. Don’t ask questions, just get up.”
“Man,” Vince mumbled, sitting up fully, “finals turns you into a bitch.”
“All the more reason for you to shut the fuck up and cooperate.” Nathan assured. Vince snorted again, but reluctantly put his shoes on before standing and following Nathan out of the room. Nathan shut the door behind him silently before they walked down the hall, their steps quietly padding on the floor.
“This place is a ghost town.” Vince muttered. “The calm before the storm of angry, violent students.”
Nathan snickered as he pictured that, trying to stay quiet until they exited the building. There were significantly less people walking around campus than there usually were, and those who were around had cups of coffee and papers in hand.
Ah, finals.
“So where’re we going?” Vince asked, walking beside Nathan with his hands in his pockets.
“Bookstore. Cap and gowns. And maybe some more coffee.” Nathan answered. Vince laughed.
“You’re gonna give yourself a heart attack with all the caffeine,” he said. Nathan only shrugged. He hadn’t had that much coffee. Besides, it would wear off by three. Which left him some time to crash and have a nap before repeating the cycle around eleven. And maybe call Varian at some point.
As they made their way into the bookstore, going to the student services counter near the entrance. A girl was behind the counter, and the closer they got, the more familiar she looked, with curly blonde hair pulled up into a bouncy ponytail. When she noticed them she smiled. “Nathan, hi! Oh my gosh, and here I was thinking I wouldn’t see you again. How have you been?”
Nathan saw Vince frown out of the corner of his eye as he struggled to remember the girls name. What was it...A...Anna? Alexis?
“Uh, hey,” he said unsurely, smiling slightly. “I’ve been good. You?”
