they're walking hand in hand together in new york after nam's complained about being stuck in zayn's apartment all day long. so, zayn dragged her out to go for a walk together. he's wearing a hoodie and glasses to try to hide from any fans or paparazzi. after a while, they found themselves in front of a pet store.
"babe, look," Zayn pointed at the animals behind the glass, "think we should take a look around?"
instead of saying yes, nam walked into the store, causing the little bell of the entrance door to chime. zayn followed in after her. she was already peering over the glass pen already captivated by them.
"can we adopt a puppy?" nam almost cried
"only if you promise to clean after it"
"sike"
"hi!" an employee approached them, "are you two interested in adopting a pet today?" zayn glanced at nam before nodding.
"great," the woman said enthusiastically, "let me know if you wanna take any of these babies home!" Nam and Zayn nodded and walked around for a little while until they both found themselves preoccupied with just one puppy.
There was a sticker in his little doggy coop, and it read;
Hi! My name is Echo. I like to: eat everything, and play with my favorite ball. I am shy but will cozy up after a few treats. will you take me home?
"this one is named Echo," the employee returned to them. "he's been here for a few weeks now. we his previous owner was moving away and couldn't keep him. Would you like to hold him?"
zayn smiled and nodded and let her give him the puppy. nam scratched behind his ears and echo leaned into her touch.
"oh my gosh, he loves me," nams heart melted
"he likes you than he does to me" Zayn muttered as echo clearly favored nam more.
"Shh, you don't understand him like I do"
"why don't you try feeding him?" the employee suggested, she handed zayn a puppy treat.
"let's see if I can win you over now," Zayn held out the treat to echo, who gladly ate it from his hands.
"this is the best he's ever been around strangers," the pet store employee explained, "he usually gets too scared and hides, the poor thing"
"if we don't adopt him I'm gonna kill everyone in this room, and then myself" nam whispered to just zayn, who nodded and tried to keep a straight face
"he could be really happy with us, were keeping him" zayn announced
"I'm so glad!" exclaimed the older woman
together, they walked around the store, picking out what needed for their new addition. when they were finished, they stood at the counter and signed the adoption forms.
"Congratulations, you two now officially dog parents!"
"you know what the next step is" zayn winked and laughed at nam's shocked expression
"Z! that's not funny if you're not serious!" nam softly punched his arm and pouted
"I'm 100 percent serious, babe"
