long distance (klance fanfic)

Part 1

(I don't know where I'm going to go with his. But I thought that this would be interesting so let's start.)

Keith has left to help with the rebel Galra fighters a over a month ago. The whole team has been sad that they lost their team mate. He calls to check up on how team Voltron is doing. Hunk always starts crying saying he misses the moody teen. While the other tell him that it's not the same. Well not everyone I stay quiet and spaced out. As soon as the call ends I storms off towards me room. Hopefully the other think mad that I don't have Keith as a rival anymore.

Once I'm in my room I lock my door and sink to the floor. And I just starts crying. I don't understand what I'm feeling. Am I just sad or am I mad that Keith's gone. Is this disappointed that I don't have a rival anymore. After a couple hours of sitting on my floor crying I get up and walk to the red lions hanger. I am so thankful that I didn't run into anyone on my way.

"Why me?" I whisper to the red Lion. "Why did you choose me to be your paladin? I'm not like ke-" I can't even say his name. "I'm not strong like him I'm not worthy to be your paladin. Why did you choose me?" I start yelling at the lion. I'm so angry I punch the wall to my left. I knew that my hand should hurt but the anger running through my veins is blocking the pain. The red lion roars and crouches down then opened up his mouth to let me in. I reluctantly enter the lions mouth and I sit down in the pilot chair with tears threatening to flow down my cheeks. "What now?" I choked out trying not to cry again. I believe this time it was because of my hand. One panel light up and it shows Keith talking to the lion.

"I'm no longer your paladin." Keith looks like he's about to cry I have never seen Keith so close to tears. "I'm leaving soon to join the galra rebel fighters and I won't be here to protect..." He trails off for a few minutes then he starts to whisper again. "Do me a favor will you protect Lance when I'm gone" he stays there a couple minutes after tears streaming down his face. Then Keith wipes his tears and turns to leave.

"Keith..." I whisper shaking my head. I'm having a hard time swallowing what I just saw. I thinks he just said that because I'm the red lions new paladin, maybe the lion tampered with the video to make me feel better. I can't figure out why the lion showed my this in the first place it just made my even more confused. I glance at the time and realized that dinner should be ready soon so I find way my to the dinning hall.

"Lance Shiro just went to get you" Pidge said as she saw me walking in.

"Hunk what kind of alien goop are we having for dinner tonight?" I put on a huge fake smile and grabs a fork that's laying out and poked the strange goop and it wiggles. "Weird" I whisper.

"Don't know Coran made it." Hunk responded looking a little disgusted with it. Then Coran goes on how it's a traditional Altean dish. I don't really pay attention and after Corans little explanation I just eat and then go back to my room. I take a long shower to help clear my thoughts. When I get out I lay down and my mind wonders I begin to think about Earth. I think about my large family and wonder what they are doing and if they miss me as much as I do. I let out a sigh and fall into a dreamless sleep.

I woken up to an alarm going off. The Galra are attacking the castle. The paladins get ready and go to their lions. The Galra aren't that hard to beat so we win within an hour, and the team head back for breakfast. Everyone is a little grumpy about this early mornings battle. But Shiro sees it as an opportunity for training.

"After everyone is done we have a mandatory training session." Shiro says with a smile and everyone mumble their complaints. "What it's a great way to bond with each other."

"Ugggghh but I'm tired Shiro." I whine.

"To bad it's mandatory." Shiro says getting a bowl of cereal. The rest complain but don't argue because they know that we would change his mind. After they finish they headed down to the training room and got into pairs. It's me and Shiro, Hunk and Pidge, and Coran and Allura. "You've been act strange lately what's up?" Shiro asks as we split off from the rest of the team.
