DEATH OF A PRINCE

A crown can rust

Broken down by tear stains and blood dried on its sharp edges

Gold and silver can weigh down the heart, but failure cuts like a blade

It bites into skin at the dead of night

And carves ugly pictures that will never see the light of day

Because a prince can grow scared of his princess pedestal

Born into a world that doesn't care about the children crying themselves to sleep

So that prince's eyes lose their light

And they give up their mind to the dark

Because swords can only do so much

When you're waging war against yourself

While the world turns against them

Their swords turn inwards

Because even a crown rusts

Broken down by tear stains and blood dried on its sharp edges
