"I need you to stay right here, and be good okay? Daddy is going to be okay, so don't worry. We are going to fix everything." then they left. I knew they were lying, and that dad was gone for good. I got up and went to look for mom. When I found her there were three female doctors holding her down, and she was screaming really loud. There were tears and snot all over her face and she trying to get up. When she saw me she calmed down and the doctors started to let go of her. When the doctors saw she was okay, they let her go and walked away slowly. I walked over to her and sat in the seat next to her. She grabbed me and squeezed me tightly. I could hear her crying, but I didn't want her to know that I knew so I remained calm. When she stopped crying she tried to explain to me that dad was dying, but she was start back crying in the middle of the sentence. A doctor in a white coat walked up to us with his head down. He had his cap in his hand and he just shook his head back and forth. My mom put her head down and ran to the restroom. I sat there staring at the plain white wall as the doctor left. I could feel my eyes fill up with tears, but I held them back thinking on what my dad told me.

We had the funeral a week later, and we were all dressed in black. It was a closed casket funeral, because we knew mom would start crying if she saw him again. When we went to the grave sight and the casket was about to be put into the ground, mom got up and placed a dozen of pink roses on the casket. Pink roses were dad's favorite kind of flower, and dandelions were his second favorite. It took a while for mom to get over the death of dad, but I was there for her every step of the way. You would think that it would be the other way around, but it wasn't. Mom got really sick a week after the funeral, and she was throwing up everywhere. When she couldn't make it to the bathroom she would just let it out where she was. I cleaned up after her, but she got well soon. A month went by and a pudge started to form in her stomach. I noticed it when she was sleep. I would sleep with her so that she wouldn't be lonely at night. The next day when I told her about it she was shocked, because she had got her tubes tied after giving birth to me. We went to the store and bought a pack of pregnancy test sticks. When she took the test out about three or four times, every result came back positive. We went to the doctor two days later to get a sonogram, and mom cried when she saw the fetus. It was to early to know the gender of the baby, but mom was confident that is was a girl. When the time came to get the gender check she was right. When she told the doctors that she had her tubes tied they did a check on her. The doctors confirmed that her tubed were still tied, and asked if they could do a surgery to find the cause of her being able to have a baby. Mom respectfully declined and left the hospital with a smile on her face. It had been a while, and I thought I would never get to see her smile again. When we got home she called everyone she knew and told them to come over. It was around seven o clock when everybody arrived with snacks and appetizers. We celebrated and everybody went up to mom and rubbed on her stomache.

After the party mom was really tired and went to bed, so I cleaned up the mess. By the time I got done the sun was already starting to rise. I went to my room and laid down with the intention of going to sleep, but I couldn't. When My eyes finally close and I started to rest, I was woken up by the sun shining brightly through my window. I got up to close my curtain, but was interrupted when my mom screamed my name from downstairs. I ran downstairs thinking that something was wrong only to find my mom at the kitchen table with a plate of breakfast in front of her. She grabbed my arm and made me sit down at the table. She pushed the plate to me and smiled.

"Iris, you have been doing so much for me since dad passed, and you haven't even cried once. I made this for you, even though you deserve so much more. You have been taking care of me when I should have been taking care of you. I just want to say thank you, and enjoy." she pulled me close to her and hugged me. She let go and wiped her face with her arm. When she walked away I started to eat the breakfast that was in front of me. Even though it was so good I couldn't finish it because of how sleepy I was. I laid my head down on the table and fell asleep. When I woke up it was dark outside, and the house was a mess. I knew that I was going to have to clean it up again, so I just shook my head and left the table. I went to my mother's room, but she wasn't there. I looked in the living room, den, bathroom, and my room, but she was no wear to be found. I was about to give up and then I heard a soft sobbing sound coming from the porch. I looked out of the window, and she was sitting on the swing with her her head held down. I went outside to comfort her, but when she saw me she wiped away her tears and gave me a fake smile. I sat next to her and wrapped my arms around her. She put one arm around me and a tear hit my head, when she was done we went back inside, and I went into the kitchen to clean up. As I picked up the broom mom came in and took it away from me.
