In "My Devotions" I will follow a simple model that I learned at the School of Missions Acts, based in Canoas, RS
A Bible text is chosen and I will write it here to meditate together what God puts in the heart on the day it was read.
The Bible is a book whose Author is alive and can read us and show us, through the Holy Spirit, what He wants, for our day and learning and deeper knowledge about God and His will, which is perfect and pleasing!
May we grow together, and if you have just come to read one or two devotions, I want them to add peace to your heart and bring hope of a full life with God.
DAY 1
Biblical text: I Chronicles 21:26
"And he built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings unto him, and called upon the LORD, who answered with fire from heaven upon the altar of burnt offering.
This text speaks of when David erected an altar in a field that he bought from Ornan, to make atonement for the sin of raising the census of the people of Israel, which God had not commanded, and did not like the king's doing. And God gave three options of punishment and David chose to fall into the hands of God and not of men. Because he knew that God is great in mercy and righteous Lord. Then God commanded David to erect this altar.
Even when we err, God has mercy if we truly repent and put ourselves in His hands with all that we are and have. As David did, offer peace-offerings according to the will of God. And not according to what we believe the right thing to do. Sometimes we do so many things that God has not commanded, and we forget to ask whether He allows or agrees with our will. We err in not having more intimacy with Him. But we can always come to His precious presence and ask for forgiveness. And to say, as children, that we want to know and do His will.
So God was pleased with David and his heart. When we put ourselves like this, He comes with the impossible and shows us that He receives our offer. A broken heart moves the heart of God. And how much He delights to see it in us!
I see here that we must totally surrender all that we are and all that we have in His mighty hands. Let him act and tell us how we should act.
And an attitude that we must change, I say, that I must change by analyzing today this Word of Life, is that when I think that everything is well and I can make the desire of my heart without consulting my God, I must reflect if this really he will please my LORD.
I watched a movie that read: IN YOUR PLACE, WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
It is a suggestion. I believe it has on youtube. And also, let us think more before we act with this simple phrase: "What would Jesus do?" And many things will change in our lives. And if we do not know for sure, let us pray, let us seek the will of God. Let us read the Bible more fully so that we know fully how God wants us in His presence.
If God touched your heart with this Word or wants to share something He has told you, feel free to comment.
God bless us!
