{I spend too much time in my room} the band CAMINO
|10:58|
Hurriedly I slam close the door to the greenhouse, regretting it as quickly as I did so when the creaking of the hinges hit my ears.
Turning around, I inspect my sleeping prospects during the impending storm, sighing as I realize it is going to be a long night.
Having dropped my keys in an effort to make it to my car before I was completely drenched head to toe, I lost my grip and lost them to the storm drain off the edge of the sidewalk. Instantly aware I had no way into my car, the studio or my house, I had to seek shelter in the closest place I could find.
Ray is the owner of the art studio I manage, having known him since I was making finger paintings, I excitedly excepted his offer to take over when I began spending more time there then he could manage himself.
The building is exactly as you could imagine with rooms filled to the brim with old supplies and treasures of aged artwork, as well as a large open studio for ceramic and design art, but one cool addition we have that few know about is the back winding staircase that leads to a hidden greenhouse.
Ray has spent years taking care of it, using some of the plants and flowers to make his personal supply of paints. A couple of years ago I found it, he took it as a moment of fate to teach me to take care of it. Teaching me all his tricks and treats with his hidden talent.
Although I turned this place into my own little getaway, I managed to leave out the practical things, needed in case of an emergency. With a few vintage chairs, I found hidden in storage I created a lofty atmosphere where I keep my books and personal art pieces.
If I'm being honest, this isn't the worst place I could have ended up tonight.
|4 hours later| |3:06|
Shuffling to my feet from the chair I had been resting on, the door slamming closed and plants being knocked over could be heard. Looking around I spot a figure close to the door on the opposite side of the greenhouse.
Cue an internal panic attack..
Grabbing the closest thing to me for protection I realize my mistake once I've crawled my way close enough to the intruder to be in legitimate danger.
Not having any light to guide me, I found my leg knocking directly into a shelf round the corner from the figure. Hitting the ground left me releasing a groan before a sudden tug on my arm leaves me reacting fast, throwing the plastic container at the strangers face.
"What the hell was that for?!" she exclaimed while clutching her now irritated eye.
Not knowing I was even talking I replied, "Literally what else could you have expected in this situation?"
Now merely a couple feet away from the intruder, I noticed the brunette hair falling loosely from the stranger's bun and the tattoos creeping up her neck. Peppered freckles cover the cheeks and the now scrunched up nose pointing down as she shuffles for what I assume to be her glasses sitting a few feet away.
Quickly I reach over at the same moment her hand claspse on the specticals. Feeling my hand drop to the dirt covered floor, I look away while shuffling to create some distance.
"How did you find this place anyways?"
"Honestly I didn't mean to, I just couldn't stay there" she takes a quick glance up before completely turning away, "the storm just seemed more promising at the time.."
On that note I chose not to push for any more answers. As long as she wasn't here for any alterier motives I could handle her presence.
"Well, there is a spare chair and blanket behind the last few rows if you need somewhere to stay."
From there I turned in the darkness back to my seat to try to find rest once again.
