Going off to college is simultaneously the best and worst time of your life. Becoming independent is good and all but student loan isn't so great. But when Arin Weaver stars her freshman year of college she realizes it's not all rainbows and sunshine.

As she loaded the trunk of her car she felt a sense of pride. "Oh, honey I'm gonna miss you so much!" Arin's mother squeezed her into a bone crushing hug. "I'll miss you too mom. And tell Greg I love him." Donna smiled. "Okay, I will. Are you sure everything's packed?" Arin nodded assuring her mother she'll be fine. She pulled out of the embrace and jumped into her beige Nissan Altima. "Bye, mom I love you. I'll visit winter break!" Arin yelled pulling out of the driveway. "I love you too be safe," Donna replied walking back to the front door.

As Arin drove through the busy street she felt slightly anxious about her newfound independence. Today she was leaving the nest and traveling to MSU in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in archeology. Since she was a little kid she had been interested in history and what secrets it held. In her spare time, she'd go hunting for secrets in the vast forests of her town. She never found anything sadly, but never gave up her love of mystery and history.

As she arrived at the campus issued apartments she couldn't help but gape in amazement. She'd never been part of the richest community, so seeing the large campus was eye-opening. Pulling into an empty parking spot, she heaved her teal suitcases out of her beat up trunk. After lugging her suitcases through the large apartment complex she finally reached her dorm.

When she unlocked her door she was instantly knocked over by a blonde flash. "OH MY GOSH I'M SO SORRY LET ME HELP YOU!" The voice panicked as she felt the weight on her chest disperse. She opened her eyes, and her jaw dropped. In front of her was a beautiful blonde girl with a Superman hoodie. "O-okay." Arin sputtered out. The blonde extended her hand and Arin grabbed it eagerly. "Oh, I haven't even introduced or explained myself yet. I'm Erica and we have attached rooms!" She explained holding the door open as Arin rolled in her luggage. "WHAT REALLY! I-I mean, what really? That's super cool. Oh also my name's Arin and it's a pleasure to meet you." Arin croaked out. As Erica walked back into the dorm, she paused before entering the open door leading to her room. "The pleasure is all mine. If you need anything, just knock. And sorry for exploring your pad and tackling you!" She hollered before closing the wooden door behind her.

Arin stared dumbfoundedly at the closed door. How the hell did she get so lucky? Her heart fluttered as the same name repeated itself through her mind, Erica, Erica, Erica.... Arin thought that she was perfect, but there is no way in hell someone like her would be into someone like Arin. She shook her head in defeat. "Get a hold of yourself Arin, you gotta unpack. Now is not the time to be drooling over your unbelievably gorgeous roommate." Arin mumbled to herself, unpacking her clothing and school supplies.

As she finished unpacking, an idea dawned upon her. She swiftly pulled out her new notebook and ripped out the first page.

Hey Erica, I think we should get to know each other sometime soon. You seem really cool.
~Arin

She gulped, anxiously sliding the note under the door crack. "She'll probably think the note is lame and rip it up". Arin sighed and brushed the thought away flopping onto her couch. After a minute or two of complete silence, she glanced over to her coffee table. Noticing her phone, she reached for it making a fruitless and lazy grabbing motion. Realizing efforts were in vain she groaned, slowly getting up. After finally grabbing her phone, she sunk back into the coach.

ERICA'S POV

Erica's heart fluttered at the familiar scent of her soulmate. Although it was millennia's ago she'd never forgotten the first time she smelt it. Hours later she noticed a small piece of notebook paper under her door. "A letter in this day and age?" She muttered picking it up. Her face grew warm as she read the small message printed near the top. In her excitement she eagerly composed a response, sliding it back under the door.
She ran into her small bedroom squealing into her pillow, kicking her legs as though she were a giddy school girl.

ARIN'S POV

A half hour later of scrolling through Tumblr, she noticed the same slip of notebook paper peaking under the door. Arin Grinned in excitement, snatching up the paper. At the bottom of her initial request, she spotted Erica's response, written in neat handwriting.

That sounds great Arin. You seem really cool and I'd love to get to know you better. Maybe tomorrow after orientation we could go out to eat? What do you think?

She quickly sent back a response, squealing with excitement.

Sounds great can't wait.
~Arin

Giggling at her not so clever wordplay she nervously slid the paper underneath the wooden door once more. She softly gasped as she realized what she had done.

She had made plans with Erica.
