A/N: Hey people! So have I convinced you people of what I liar I am, yet? My ‘I-will-update-soon’ has often tuned out to be ‘I-will-update-after-a-awfully-long-time’. But, I DO update. So, here I am, with a new spinet from Mel and Harvey’s life. Enjoy!

To tell or not to tell, was the question.

Things had been going well for Mel and Harvey.

Or, at least, as well as things could go, in a span for one and a half day.

On Monday, when he’d taken her to the orchard, they’d had one of the most romantic evenings. After their embarrassingly sappy declarations of love-well, not love really- Harvey had taken her out on a normal date.

Well, as normal as they could be.

“So, we should do a movie and dinner deal?” he’d squeezed her fingers.

“Movie and a dinner? Why, Mr Sears, what a radical idea!” she’d nudged him with a shoulder shove.

Their dates, you know, before, had been unusual and weird. They’d been to a circus (her cousin Elsa worked there, as a trapeze), a ‘Happy Divorce’ party( Harvey’s Aunt Rochelle’s 4th divorce), the cafeteria of the closest hospital(Harvey, himself, had a concussion from a fall at the game) and a cowboy ranch, where they’d been stranded once, when his car had run out of gas.

Compared to the previous dates, a movie and dinner was very normal, indeed.

Surprisingly, the date had gone very well, and without any extra drama. The entire evening had been spent talking and laughing. Two years ago, when Harvey had left, he’d gone off to Spain for a foreign exchange programme. After the entire mess between them, he had applied and had been accepted. That evening he’d told her stories about all the funny things he’d done in Spain and about all his friends there. A part of her had liked to hear of his adventures, but another part of her couldn’t help but feel bad that she’d driven this sweet boy away from home. It had been done unintentionally, but regardless, the guilt was not controllable.

They had purposely chosen a boring movie to allow them to talk, under the pretence of normalcy. After the intermission, she’d had another highly embarrassing moment where she’d become a little weepy.

“Every day, even when I was having fun, or working, or studying, I missed you” he nuzzled her neck.

“I missed you, too. There were days when things would get very bad. I wanted to talk to you so bad, I used to pick up the phone, and I used to dial your number, but never pressed that green button” she’d felt her eyes brimming.

When she’d said that, he had growled and they’d launched into a small little make-out session. Rough hands, hot mouths, and a mixed bag of emotions.

He’d dropped her off, with a smile on her face, a promise on his, and with hope in both their hearts.

School, the next day, had been awkward. To say the least.

Nobody but herself, Harvey and Sasha knew what had caused the break-up and all the ensuing drama. This was good in a way. It had saved her from a lot of food dumped on her head, locker spray painted, death glares and hate mail, no matter how misunderstood it would’ve been.

But, this ignorance also kind of sucked, because it led to a whole lot of speculation. People kept talking about who’d dumped whom, what exactly had happened, were they back together now, was there a spurned lover on either side?

In an unsaid, but understood, agreement, she and Harvey had decided to explain as little as possible. The only answer to be given was: Yes, we are together. This had been insisted by Harvey.

“You’ll tell them we are together. I need everyone to know the truth, that you are mine” he’d whispered to her during Homeroom, before giving her a knee-melting, bone-shaking kiss.

The rest of the day had been as expected; looks glances, stares, whispers, innuendoes and outright interrogations. It had all been dealt with, together. He’d come to pick her up at lunch and they’d spent the hour discussing the strategic outline for Sasha’s party. She as going to come back the next day and this would be the only chance they’d have to talk about it at school. Melanie also knew that tomorrow she would face another interrogation. Her best friend was a sweet and beautiful cheerleader, but she was also the most scary, thorough, and tough interrogator. The girl could outshine FBI operatives.

It was after school, when she was waiting in Harvey’s car while he was busy with football practice that the newest dilemma approached. She had been reading a romance novel to pass the time. The hero and heroines were working towards lofty declarations of love, when she’d realised what had been wrong in the past one and a half day.

None of them had mentioned ‘the L word’.

Oh, she felt it. She wanted to say it.

But could she? Without him knowing the entire truth of what had transpired two years ago. Wouldn’t it be too soon, and what if it scared him away? Or worse, if he said it back, and then realised that this wasn’t what he wanted after all. Could she bear that sort of hurt, again? Could she risk her heart again? Could he? Could they actually have a second chance?

She spent the rest of the hour cursing the romance book and her over active brain.
