Webcam Blackmail

It all happened during a sleepless night. At around 2 a.m. I was still in front of my computer, chatting on the Internet with complete strangers. I was excited, and I did what I usually don't allow: I put my webcam on. I won't describe what I did exactly, I'm not proud of it. While doing it I didn't mind, as if I was not thinking anymore.

After that private moment shared with a stranger who didn't show his face, I got to sleep. The next morning, I didn't think about it until I read my emails. At first, I took this one as a spam but what was inside frightened me:

"I recorded you last night. Pay me 250$ or I will send the video to all your contacts."

I wanted to take it as a joke. This could only happen to others! This could only happen in TV shows or in movies! It couldn't be real for me. So, at first I didn't take it seriously and moved on with my day, doing the usual things. In the afternoon another email arrived, with a part of the video attached to it.

This is when I realized it was all true. I didn't know what to do. Of course, I immediately thought that I should ask for help. Too ashamed, I couldn't figure out who to call for help. It is hard to describe how one feels in such a situation.

Not able even able to think, I decided to pay, hoping it would end. That was just before Christmas 2015...
