Little girl, you're looking lost and alone.
Wandering around, looking for somewhere to call home.
I know you're scared, scared of the feelings inside.
You just can't face it, instead you hide.
Hide in the shadows, where you won't be seen.
You speak to others but you've forgotten what the words mean.
"I'm okay" and "It's alright" or "I promise I'll go home tonight"
Things you tell others to keep up appearances.
Looks are important, you learned that through past experiences.

Little girl, wandering around
I know you're waiting to be found
By someone who won't let you off the hook
Because they know you don't feel how you make yourself look.
Wash away that mask you wear
Let someone in
Let them show they care.

Little girl, you know you want to, more than anything.
But your fear stops that from happening.
You're scared of being hurt
Thrown back into the fire
But without help
The situation will become dire.

You're not just a little girl.
You're the one I hide inside.
Maybe one day we won't be afraid.
Maybe we can be as strong as we were made.
Either way we can't do it alone.
But first, this little girl is going to build her own home.
