I remember you.
paint-stained cheeks
a brush around your fingers
the beach on your skin
sun illuminates
your curly hair
against
my chest
i remember you.
our bodies wrapped
together
was so long ago
i looked at you
as the sea
your surface flows
internal is tranquility
nay,
you were the sun
lighting up the deep
a string of light against the darkness
waves crashed
the ocean in your succession
yellow
against the blues
you wandered
too far
shining
against the vast horizon
you fleet
a flash of a star
or what used to be,
and never able to return
a hasty moment
one afternoon on the shore
ink on my hands
the light on my glass
i remember you
from the ocean breeze
and the smell of ink against my skin
as i await our next summer
