"Hey, dumbhead. Wake up!" yelled Marissa from the back of the class.

She would refer to me as "dumbhead" despite knowing my name and when asked why she would do that, she'd say that I deserved it.

I tried to pay no attention to what she or anyone else would say about me because my best friend, Damion, would constantly remind me that it was of no use to be caught in turmoil because of outsiders.

He was always a good friend to me and I decided what he was saying was in my best interest.

It's strange living my life because everything I do seems to offend the people around me in the craziest fashion.

Most people would scold their children or even tell them they're grounded, but for me, my parents had different parenting techniques.

They felt I deserved different treatment than the others around me and so did everyone else.

"Class dismissed" yelled the teacher and it was time to leave school, I had slept through most of the class without anyone noticing, except Marissa of course.

I got up to leave and put a handful of books in my bag, thinking about what I'll do when I get home when I heard a voice calling me.
