"I don't want you anymore!" He sighed.
"Soo?" I dragged on.
"Maddie, it's over!" He looked at me with teary eyes.
"Okay bye then! Enjoy your life! " I smirked. Okay, so on the inside it hurt, a lot, but there was no way in hell I was letting him know that! I patted his back and walked to my car hopping in and driving off. When I was sure no one could see me I pulled over banging the steering wheel as hard as I could. What did I ever do to him huh? All I did was love that boy and he dumps me like that? In front of everyone? To hear those words come from the one person that was supposed to love you and support you no matter what was a real kick in the guts.
Once I took my anger out on my cars steering wheel I started the engine and headed home, at least there I could chill out and sort my head out. Time alone is exactly what I needed and my parents weren't due home from work for at least 2 more hours. I drove the thirty minutes back to my house and hopped out, grabbing my phone and locking the car. My house wasn't the biggest or the best house on the street, but it was home to me. I couldn't ask for anything more. I fiddled around with my keys to find the one for the door but when I got to it I saw that it was unlocked. So either someone had broken in or Mum and dad must be home already.
"If you don't tell Maddie I will!" my dad yelled. Like usual, mum and dad were arguing about me. there wasn't a day in the past two years they hadn't argued about me. Dad always sticking up for me when mum was on one of her rampages about my grades or how I dressed. Don't get me wrong, I love my mum but we are just so different we clash like fire and ice. She wants a prim and proper daughter that wears dresses and a cake face of makeup with perfectly groomed hair but instead she got me, The total opposite. I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress and I can't remember the last time in actually brushed my hair, apart from with my fingers. So mums always picking at things and dads always defending me, At least someone in this family gets me.
"Tell Maddie what?" I asked in third person.
"That she will be moving away for the rest of school!" Dad said staring at his newspaper in a fit of rage.
"What?" I spat, "You have got to be joking, There is no way I'm going anywhere!" I huffed. They have to be joking, as if they'd send away their only daughter.
"Listen sweetie, it's for the best. Your grades are low and we think you need some time away from Robbie!" Mum explained.
"Whats best for ME?" I said raising my voice, " how will this befit me? send me away to a place that I don't know and expect me to suddenly be good at school and become the stuck up brat you want me to be?" I was beyond furious now. I couldn't bare another word from either pf them so stormed off to my room. "Oh and you don't have to worry about Robbie he dumped me!" I spat on my way up the stairs. As soon as i reached my room I slammed the door behind me just to make sure that they got the message. What, I'm dramatic. I was laying on my bed studying the roof when hear a few soft knocks on the door.
"Can I come in M?" I heard me dad whisper from behind my door. Dad always called me M, don't really know why but I like it. Its like our thing.
"Yeah" I huffed moving over so there was room for him on my bed. Dad was always the one that came to make sure I was alright after a fight between mum and I. He was like the peace keeper if the house, I don't know what we'd do without him.
As he opened the door I see a plate full if brownies emerge. Ugh my favourite, how can I be mad when there is brownies involved.
"They better not be triple chocolate!" I demanded. "Dont think you can come in here with that delicious snack and think I'm just going to forgive you." I warned.
"I would never" he said pretending to be offended, "I was just walking past with this plate of fresh warm brownies and thought you might like one" He continued, still half behind the door.
"Only if there is cold milk?" I challenged.
"What kind of monster do you think I am? As if I'd forget the milk!" He said fully standing in my room with the plate in one had and the glass of milk in the other.
"I'm still mad at you" I said giggling.
"I'd be concerned if you weren't" He said walking towards my bed and sitting the plate in my lap. "Please know that we only want whats best for you," he stared "And that we really think a new start will really help you out".
"I know dad, but I'm 18. Dont you think that I can make these decisions on my own?" I said rolling my eyes. They still treated my like I was 16.
"I know M, but we are really worried about you. Your grades have dropped so much this year and we just don't know why." he sighed. "Your always out late and things have just been off for a while now." He explained looking up at me.
"I'm sorry dad, I know you and mum want whats best for me but I just don't see what moving school now would accomplish?" I sighed. After everything we have been through as a family, shipping me off should be the last thing they want to do.
"We just think a change of scenery will help you out of this slump" He suggested. " Please consider it?" He pleaded. Well played old man, Well played.
"Okay but lets just say I did agree, where would I stay?" I asked. Hopefully not somewhere dreadful.
"Well you remember Kath and john?" He asked. I shake my head, I do not recall and Kathy and John. "They had a son, I forget his name" He added, picking up that I had no idea what he was on about. "And that dog, that big fluffy thing" He said closing his eyes trying to recall the name.
"Arlo?" I questioned.
"Thats him! of course you'd remember the dogs name!" He laughed. Not my fault dogs are cooler than people.
"You want me to live with people that i have seen in over 10 years?" I asked shocked. What if Arlo had already passed? who was I supposed to hang out with if that little dude wasn't around?
"Pretty much" He said. "They are really looking forward to you going to stay" He added quickly. So they already made all the plans and arrangements.
"Sounds like you have already got everything planned out." I growled. We sat in silence for a minute. "Fine, I'll go." I huffed. If it will make them happy then I think I can deal with this for a few weeks. Dads face instantly lit up.
"Oh thank you M!" he said getting up and kissing my forehead, "You leave Saturday." He said before hurring away. Saturday? As in like two days away? You've got to be kidding.
