Part 2

{CH 2 THE ASSAULT}

I wake up again and sit up in my bed blinking a couple times I just wanted to go back to sleep but there was work to be done pullin up my pants and putting on my duster and hat I thought to myself (shela should have been the one to wake me up) I look over to her dog bed to see it empty. "heh ....again?" I say to myself for the past few weeks Sheila has been sneaking out to see this male timber wolf by the name of lex and I give he hard sh*t about it every time and she hates it I've been trying to get him to come back to the cabin and stay with us but every time he refuses he tells me he has a job to do and can't afford to be "distracted" but today I'm going to try again and this time shela will be the one asking. I buckle my holster and headed out listening for him after a while I found shela waiting on him in their usual meeting spot in the forest "sneaking out again huh?" i say making her jump a bit "sorry colt i'm just excited he called to me earlier" she says wagging her tail like a pup "yeah I know. here imma help you out a little" I say and then whistle sharp and quick but very loudly and within a few seconds I see him walking towards us but then I noticed something he wasn't walking but limping towards us and the closer he got the more evident it was that he had been in a fight "mornin' .....m'lady" he said with a grunt and then collapsed right in front of us it was clear he was hurt bad "LEX" shela whined and ran up to him and laid next to the once mighty timber wolf "geez lex looks like you got mauled" I said with surprise "j-just a little quarl i'll be fine....." he said grimacing at the pain "quarl? With wh-" as i say this as if on queue a rough voice came from the path lex took "well well well caught like a rat in a trap" the voice said I looked and saw the unholy shape of 4 wargs genetically mutated wolves bread for killing the leader spoke again "two wolfs and a human.....what do you think boys think this could feed us?" the others just laugh while the leader eyes me " how about we take the human first" he growls and starts walking forward lex started moving "LEAVE THEM ALONE!!" he yells the leader just looks at lex with a pissed off look "SHUT IT TIMBER WOLF you are hardly in any position to tell me what to do" he barks "so this is your job you protect people from them? Geez lex I can't believe you let these freaks beat you." I chuckle a bit and lex looks at me with fear "no cobalt don't provoke them you don't know what they are capable of" at that point I just start laughing "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh stars that's funny I can see why shela has fallen for you you're pretty funny" I say and sheila starts giggling lex looks at us like we've lost our minds "this isn't funny" he said "oh I beg to differ my friend it's hilarious" I say holding back tears from laughing "SILENCE YOU DARE MOCK ME?!" the leader chimes in "oh and who made you king of the play pin?" i ask that must have set him off because without another word he charged me and a grin formed on my face POW the warg that was previously threatened me now lies motionless in the dirt my eyes had flared a vibrant blue before but the blue faded slightly and is now almost white "anyone else want to go?" I say with a straight voice staring down the iron sights of my 500 right at the other wargs who have cowered at the sound of the revolver and the now unmoving body of their leader and just ran off in the opposite direction of us. I watch them run for a bit holster my gun and looked at lex "can you walk?" I said and he just continued to look at the body of the leader "w-what? oh yeah I think so." he stutters as he tries to get up "Urk.....Im ok Im ok" he says clearly in pain. "Sheila" I said and she got what I was telling her "come on lex...." she says pushing him up "thank you m'lady" he says lean-walking on sheila "Ill meet you at the cabin Sheila Im going hunting those furs could be sold and we could use the food" I say "r-roger that boss.....geez you're heavy" she says trying to balance lex on her side without hurting him further. []back at cabin[] I walk through the door carrying a sack of furs and a sack of salted meats "im back" I announce and put down the furs and cary the meats to the smoking closet I installed it indoors for easy access but I needed to make a hole big enough to keep the heat in but keep the smoke out of the house though I haven't had enough time to install it so for now its a drying rack for the salted meats and game I manage to bag. "Colt welcome back " sheila says "thanks sorry I took so long I built a fire to cook and try some warg meat but I think it's a bit of an acquired taste though i'll let you be the judge". A few hours later I was cooking up a few meals three for dinner the rest will go into the freezer "alright get it while it's hot" I say laying the plates of food down next to the dog beds and go sit at the table to begin eating. I was about half way finished with my meal when the power cut out "damnit the generator must have blown again." i said cursing myself for building such a flawed building design. "SHEILA LEX IM GOING TO FIX THE POWER I'LL BE BACK STAY HERE!" I called walking out into the dark and rain. Through the sound of rain and thunder I hear what i thought were footsteps so I stop dead in my tracks and listen then BAM a bullet drills into my shoulder and I retreat behind a boulder and listen again "I GOT EM BOSS I GOT EM" a voice from the darkness yells "shut up you idiot" another comes from the opposite side of the first voice lightning flashed and I realized I was surrounded by eleven heavily armed pirate bandits. (heh well I'm a little screwed) I thought as I sit and listen passed the rain "boss can we just go it doesn't look like this guy has anything of value" a soft voice comes from close to where the second voice originated "no you know the rules all newcomers must either pay rent or die no pay no life no exceptions" the second voice said I chuckled at this but i soon was halted when the voice said "blow the cabin" at that point i finally registered them as a threat and it pissed me off not because they threatened my life but because they indirectly threatened my wolf's lives my friends lives and i would not stand for that I felt something ancient rise in my heart not anger but RAGE and the ancient power of my seraphim blood counterd my calm blue eyes and replaced them with blood red demonic eyes and they were locked on to the ""boss"" and without commanding myself to i got up from behind the rock and walked to the center of where I was surrounded staring down the leader "heh you got a death wish kid?" the boss said and in a low demonic voice the almost scared me I stated "yeah YOURS" and before I even could process what i just said i found my hand around the leader's neck and then back into the center of the circle "S-SHOOT HIM" the boss managed to get that one sentence out and not a second after i was getting lit up from all sides but I felt nothing but dead weight in my hand they had shot the leader dead but somehow missed me entirely I dropped the body i held in one hand and my blood spoke again "all of you are fools you can't kill a demon....you can't kill me but I.....I can kill you" without skipping a beat my body began teleporting and slaughtering all the shooters 11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2...... by seeing the last shooter they stumble back as my glare snaps onto their position and i charge and as i charge right before i pull the trigger on my revolver I see it's a girl no older than me at this point the rain had stopped and I could see she's crying and begging for her life "P-please please don't hurt me i'm sorry we attacked you I'll leave you alone just please don't kill me" she begged i could feel the tightening grip on the trigger but then I lowered my gun and my eyes returned to their seraphim blue (ah geez I have such a weakness for girls crying) I thought i knelt down and put my hand gently on her face making her jump and brace herself but instead of hurting her I simply dried her tears "ok i won't hurt you just don't cry alright" I say as gently as I could "thank you thank you I'll leave i promise you won't have to deal with us again I swear" she says "woah woah hold up you aren't going anywhere you gotta repay me" i say and look at her up and down (hmm yeah she looks like she can work the farms or maybe hunt) I think to myself the look of fear returns to her face and she looks down at herself "w-wait b-but I....oh please don't do this just let me go" she stutters with a red face "too bad someone's gotta give some sort of compensation for this damage" i say (maybe I could teach her how to shoot better?) I continue sizing up what to do with her and then she hits me with "o-ok j-just be gentle with me Its my first time" she said shyly looking away from me (mayb--------------WHAT?!?) "PFFT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH STARS THATS RICH HAHAHAHAHAHA" I burst out laughing and she just looks at me like im insane "ah hah ha.... oh man that's good what's your name sweetheart?" I say clutching my stomach "a-alexis" she says "ok alexis look darlin I'm not lookin' to lay with you i just want you to stay here and help out around the house seeing that you most likely don't have a place to stay anymore you can stay here with us" I explain and her face grows into a big grin and she lights up "really? You're giving me a home?" she asks I grin at her 180 in attitude "yeah come on let's go ins-" I was cut off by a surprise embrace from her thanking me over and over my warm smile disperses when I hear her silently crying again (damn did they not treat you right when you were with the bandits) my sight shifts to the motionless body of the leader and anger starts welling up again but it didn't last long when I feel a weight on my body "she passed out .....geez this girl" I say to myself i carried her to the guest room in the cabin to rest for a while and sat in the wooden chair next to the bed and before I realized it i had fall asleep in the chair and woke up with a quilt on me and alexis had disappeared I start to panic then i catch the scent of "bacon.....eggs" I say I walk into the kitchen and see alexis cooking bacon pancakes and without turning around she says "good morning boss would you like some pancakes?" (wtf is happening right now?) "uhh s-sure why not" i say still confused at why she's up this early to make breakfast (wait?boss?) "boss? Heh look darlin you don't have to call me that colt is just fine" i said piecing everything together "ok gotcha' don't call you boss anything else you need bos- colt?" she asked "no and don't just be a mindless drone you're not here just to be ordered around like a slave you have your own life live it ok?" I tell her. A slight blush formed on her face "hehe what's that for? You're blushing" i say "oh uhh" she covers her face with her hand "I'm just not used to someone being so nice to me I wasn't use to anything but empty compliments from a bunch of......men" she said men like it was a stereotype for males to well do what they do cause of hormones "ah so i'm guessing you were the only female?" I asked curiously "no just the freshest I guess" she said "stars bound alexis what kind of....." "a very wrong one thats what kind of place it was" she cut me off by answering my question that i didn't ask "but I'm glad to see you're not one of them.......come to think of it you aren't like anyone that I've ever seen before what exactly are you?" and just like that the question I was hoping she wouldn't ask "well I'm guessing you saw what I did so I might as well tell you I'm from a special and very powerful bloodline called Seraphim my abilities come from my lineage" her eyes got wide as I explained my power "I've heard of the seraphim they are an ancient and powerful people who go through training to obtain powers that would take an average person years to accomplish that's amazing" she says like she just met a galactic celebrity but this only made me more nervous about telling her more.
