Breathing steady with the familiar music felt like home. Her feet moved across the floor to the rhythm of the music. She got a little shaky remembering her stage fright. But every movement was smooth, she practiced this dance so many times she knew it has to be perfect. As she made a big leap across the stage her adrenaline peaked. Her light blue costume lace sparkled in the thin white light. Her ballet shoes were tight, but secure.
The piano started to play lower keys, her dance turned darker then the light turned a deep red, and faster she danced. Her feet shot up as she leaped more, and spun across the stage. The lights on her, were blinding. She went for her last leap, when her left foot left the ground she felt a pull around her knee. When she landed her leg popped multiple times feeling a rippling pain pinch. Falling to the ground she felt all the power of gravity keeping her down, she posed to cover her tracks. The lights turned off then they clapped. Her best friend ran onto the stage after the lights fell dark.
"Sadie!" She whispered and hurried to her side.
She half cried and half laughed. "Chelsea I'm alright. Just helped me up and off the stage."
Chelsea Wrapped her arms around her to helped her up. Sadie put her arm around Chelsea, Sadie limped feeling the pain more the longer she fought gravity as they walked off the stage to the hall. Sadie fell to the floor and burst into tears. Chelsea fell to her level "Sadie, are you okay?"
Sadie didn't want to talk anymore, she just wanted the pain to be over. Shaking her head, she felt more tears coming. "It hurts!" Chelsea nodded then helped her back up, then helped her go to her car to take her to the hospital.
After they got checked into the emergency room the hours dragged on to get the x-rays then waiting for her doctor to come. When he finely came in they both looked to him."Well Sadie." He looked at her leg "Your tibia popped out of place and when you landed it chipped and splintered. We will need to prep you for surgery, and see how it goes, okay?"
Sadie clutched Chelsea's hand and let out a tear, then nodded.
