Chapter 1

Darkness, that is all I remembered from my past. Dreams of dark horses rampaging through streets, people's screams echoing at every turn. Cries of the helpless continue as the world is brought to a new lord. I was born to continue that. I was supposed to be left with a dark army, taken over world, seconds bowing at my will. Yet, it never came. There were two attempts from my family to make this dream a reality. Two times I have lost my ancestor. Two times the world is returned to a golden light.

I am supposed to feel hatred towards that golden light. I am supposed to devour it like it was a small berry. Why must I defy my destiny? No, I did no such thing. He is the one who destroyed my future. Yet, here I am. Alone on the docks, preparing for what I know will be a fight to the death.  I stand by others, who has no destiny to speak of. I suppose I am just like them now. Is that a bad thing? To have no grand design for a life? It seems grand. A world where one writes their own destiny. On the other hand, you are lost with thousands of others who have no path. All you are is lost in time.

These thoughts have haunted me since he was destroyed along with everything I have ever known. I have been able to make it work; food, water, shelter is all I'll ever need. I am missing something. Companionship? Maybe. Probably not. I never had a companion in my life, why would I need one now?

Five young men dress in seemingly bright colors come to the dock. They speak rather loudly. It is quite annoying. How can five people be so energetic this late at light. For people who dress like ninjas, they seem to be terrible at blending in. One. I single out one. I feel drawn to that one. He seems so familiar yet I have never seen him in my life. His blond hair seems to shine brighter than anything around us. I feel my body begin to move towards that one until the sound of the boat awake me from my trance.

As all of us line up, the blinds words stand out to me. I continue to ask myself why. Why him? I turn my back to look once again and I lock eyes with him. For what seemed like an eternity we gazed at one another. Not until my bag is taken from me and loaded onto the ship I can break from his spell. I retreat to the upper deck to hopefully escape that boy but I know in my heart that I will never be able to escape him.

I watch as a fight breaks out between to of my competitors. I'll never understand that. The need to fight. What is the point of this madness.

The sun shines upon a new island not seen by many. The beauty of the island causes all the fighters to stop. Peace came over the boat. Soon only one will remain.
