We all have dreams. We go to bed thinking about how we can achieve those dreams and we wake up with our mind continuing to think about where you picture yourself in the next years of your life. We think to ourselves, "will this be easy", and the answer is most likely always gonna be no. We live in
a world of constant competition and we have to achieve the drive in us, to want to win.
The difference between Miranda Blue was that, no matter the competitors and opponents that she would come across, she was not going to give up on her dreams. Her dreams of moving to Memphis and recording her own songs in the legendary Sun Studio, where her heroes had once reached their goals and made memories that made them famous and developed a reason for them to be remembered, even after their death. These heroes of Miranda's went by the names Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley.
This wasn't a common dream for a 18 year old girl who had just graduated high school from a small town in Oklahoma. And it especially wasn't going to be easy. Miranda would have to attend a community college in Memphis that she could afford, get a full time job to pay rent (preferably at a recording studio or shop on Beale Street), and most of all, meet new friends, since all of her closest family and friends were back home.
But because Miranda had a passion for music and Memphis, she knew that with many prayers sent up to her Lord in Heaven and a whole lot of support from home, these dreams would someday be achieved.
So on the hot summer day of June 15th, 1998 she was on the road by sunrise, ready for whatever she would encounter. She stopped a few times in little towns known for nothing more than crop production, and took photographs of beautiful views she had seen. Miranda was big on memories and she was determined to capture them on this amazing journey.
As any young woman would, Miranda invited her friend Jace to come along on the trip to keep her company and be with her in case anything were to happen on the busy streets of Memphis. Jace was a long-time friend. Many kids from back home thought Jace and Miranda had a "thing". But if they really understood how close they had become over the years, they would know that it was more of a brother/sister mutual feeling between the two. Jace would do anything to help Miranda's dreams come true and Miranda would do the same for him.
On the road, the two of them talked about their plans for Memphis, where they were gonna look for apartments (hopefully in the same building), were they would apply for work, and how they were going to act as eachother's accountability partners. When they got there, they would eat healthy, work out, go grocery shopping together weekly, and most of all, make many wise friends.
In Memphis, meeting friends was the first step in the music industry. You would need wise advice from people who want you to completely be yourself and write music that fits your personality.
So the first place they went to ,after they had checked in to their temporary hotel, was Beale street. They walked together so that they wouldn't lose each other, and went into little souvenir shops and talked to the workers. They were all so friendly and they gave each shop a copy of Miranda's home-recorded album.
Next, they ate at the Hard Rock Cafe, where they made friends with Cash, their waiter. They gave him an album and then he gave them his number and told them to call him of they ever needed a friend in town and they told him they would be back in to see him. As Miranda walked out, she thought about Cash. There was something special about him, and it wasn't just his name.
