"UNDERSTANDING"
There are some things that you will never understand.
Why sometimes your dreams are unmemorable,
Why your morning cup of coffee cools all too fast,
Why the cigarette burns out too quickly,
Why friendships don't last.
Why magic ceases to exist,
Why marriages fail,
Why love loses it's spark,
Why life seems to go stale.
You see, there are some things, that you were meant to not understand.
Perhaps those dreams were nightmares instead,
Perhaps you'd burn your tounge,
Perhaps this was a sign to quit them,
Perhaps they'd pull the trigger, the second they got a gun.
Perhaps it'd save you from all of the deceit,
Perhaps their motives weren't so pure,
Perhaps it would save you from a bitter end,
Perhaps it'd spare your heart from making mistakes that weren't meant to reoccur.
Sometimes things happen for reason that you cannot always understand.
But they do happen for a reason.

This is a poem that is mildly structured, and I prefer prose, because I think that things sound better when you just pour words from your soul, rhyming sounds a bit forced to me. Hopefully this isn't too corny!
