Chapter 16

Natalie's POV

The next day after school, I get a call from Rydel.

"Hey! How's married life?" I say answering the phone.

"Haha good! How are you?" She asks.

"Good. School sucks, but other than that, everything's okay.."

"Oh that's good. So I just got back from my doctors appointment!" She says excitedly.

"And?!"

"I'm having a boy!" She basically screamed.

"Oh my gosh congratulations!"

"Ellington's thrilled! I am too!"

"Aw! I'm so happy for you two!" I say.

"Thanks! We also bought a house! It's perfect!"

"Awesome!! Have you talked to Ross lately?" I ask.

"Yeah. He really misses you. Like a lot. You're all that he can talk about." Rydel tells me.

"I miss him a lot too. I'll be back soon."

"I know. He'll find something to keep him busy until you're back!"

"I hope! Well I have to do homework, so I'll talk to you later!" I say.

"Ew. Haha okay bye!"

After I hang up, I do the few questions of English homework that I have then watch some tv.

While I was watching tv, my phone beeped showing I have a text message.

(N-Natalie, Z-Zac)

Z-Hey Nat! It's Zac.

N-Hey! I don't care, but how did you get my number?

Z-Emily gave it to me, she said you wouldn't mind.

N-No, I don't. So what's up?

Z-I was wondering if you wanna hang out?

N-Um, I would like that, but you know I'm engaged, right?

Z-Yeah. Can't we just be two friends hanging out?

N-Yep. When?

Z-I can pick you up in a half hour?

N-Sounds good! See you soon!

I hope he doesn't think I like him. I'm going to make sure nothing happens that would give him the wrong idea.

A half hour later, Zac picks me up and takes me back to his house. I've never seen his house and I've never met his parents, so this should be interesting.

When we get to his house, he goes into the living room.

"Hey mom! This is Natalie." He says.

"Hi." I say to his mom.

"Hi! Nice to meet you."

His little brother's in the room too.

"Hey! Aren't you marring the guy from Austin & Ally?" His brother asks me.

"Yep! That's me!" I tell him.

"That's so cool! So you're kinda like, famous now, aren't you?"

"Haha I guess."

"We'll be in my room." Zac says.

"Keep the door open." His mom yells to us.

"Mom, relax, she's already pregnant." He yells back walking down the hall.

I blush and follow him.

"So," I begin, "how's life?"

"Good I guess. How are you?" He asks.

"I've been better."

"Oh."

We sit there in silence for a few minutes. It's kinda awkward.

"Wanna watch a movie?" Zac asks.

"Sure."

We head downstairs to the basement and I sit on the couch while he looks for a movie.

"How 'bout this?" He says holding up "The Hunger Games"

"I love that movie!" I say.

"Awesome!"

Zac puts the movie on and sits next to me on the couch.

As we're watching the movie, he does the whole yawn, stretch and puts his arm around my shoulder. I push it off immediately.

"Zac. I told you. I'm engaged." I say.

"I know. But um, there's kinda something I've been wanting to tell you for a long time now."

"What?"

"I like you. A lot. Like more than just a friend. I have since before you moved to California." He said.

I sit there shocked. Zac likes me. Me? The girl who's always been really quiet and didn't have many friends.

The next thing I know, he's leaning in to kiss me. Our faces are a few inches apart when he whispers

"Tell me if you want me to stop."

He gets a little closer; our faces are about an inch away from each other.

"Stop." I say quietly.

"I'm sorry." He says.

"I think I'm ready to go home."

Zac drives me home and I go straight upstairs into my room.
