Tomorrow is the first day of school. After the long summer, I am going back to Eastville High. I wonder what the other juniors have done over the summer. Did they make new friends? Did they do anything fun? Will there be any new kids this year?

I sit up in bed and look around. The walls of my room are a soft color, like pastel yellow. They contain several pictures of me and my mother when I was a young child. My white, full size bed is pushed in the far corner of the room, across from one of two windows. Right then Dad knocks on the door.

"Autumn, are you awake?" he asks softly while carefully opening the door.

"Yes Dad. I will be right down after I take a shower."

He pauses, smiles at me, and closes the door. "Ok sweetie."

I climb out of bed and walk down the hall to the bathroom. once I am in the bathroom, I look in the mirror. At school I have been labeled as one of the prettiest girls in school. My light blond hair falls straight down to the middle of my back. I have light blue eyes, the same color as the sky on a sunny day. Other girls dream of having my hourglass figure. In other words, I am perfect.

I take a shower and get dressed in a crop-top and jeans- By August, Eastville is already cool enough for jeans.  When I get downstairs, I grab an apple and start eating it. Dad is outside in the backyard so I go stand next to him.

"New neighbors have moved in," he tells me. "I think that you should go welcome them."

I think about this. If the neighbors are my age they need to know who I am for tomorrow. They will need to know not to mess with me. Maybe they can join my group I think. They probably will be able to fit right in with me and my inner circle.

"Sure Dad. Sounds fun. I can head over there right now."

"Thanks honey. You know how much this means to me." He turns to the door and walks back inside. I stand here for a moment, breathing in the air and go back inside.

Five minutes later I am standing outside of the new neighbors house. Slowly, I walk up to the door, ring the bell, and take a step back. Moments later the door is opened by the most beautiful boy I have ever seen.

He stands a little taller than me, so that i have to look up to see his face. His jet black hair falls to his shoulders, and he puts it in a messy ponytail. His eyes are a hazel color, but different than any eyes I have seen before. His athletic build makes him look like a good fit for the football team. He looks like the exact type of person that would fit in our group.

I look in his eyes and say to him, "Hi! I'm Autumn Ward, your next-door neighbor! What's your name?"

He looks at me curiously, and thinks carefully. "I'm Aaron Hunt," he says finally. "It's nice to meet you."

"What grade are you in?" I inquire.

"I am going to start junior year tomorrow."

"Me too! How exciting! I can show you around school tomorrow."

"Thank you for stopping by," he says slowly. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye!" I bounce away as he closes the door. That went well. We may have a new addition to our group tomorrow.
