"Donnie, I want a baby," the words slipped from your lips as if it were a normal everyday conversation. The purple clad turtle had choked upon his coffee, reddish-brown eyes broadened at your request — when he had caught himself, his gaze had met yours, but they expressed absolute discouragement.
You pursed your lips as you watched his every movement, yet he declined your watch as if it were nothing but wind. A small pout had made itself present upon his lips. "(Your name), you know it wouldn't work, we've tried many times before."
"But," you perked optimistically, moving the coffee cup away from him in order to gain his attention. "Nobody ever said it wouldn't be — it could be! I mean, I know about our species and all, but you've just got to look at the brighter side of things."
You knew your husband Donatello was never one for being optimistic, especially in situations like these. He was shy, insecure, kind, patient — totally capable of fathering a newborn. But you believed that two species could in fact conceive and you weren't planning on giving up on that theory.
Months of trying within your three-year marriage seemed almost unhealthy, but you were desperate for a little company whilst he and his brothers were out invariably to keep the city safe. He placed his abnormally large palm upon yours, and as a response you did the same; golden ring bands glistening within the light of the kitchen.
"Still as stubborn as you were when I met you." Chuckled Donnie as he pressed a gentle kiss to your temple, whereupon you smile diminutively at his small gesture. "We'll figure it out soon (Your Name)."
