So, most of us know bullies as the mean jerks at school who push us around, call us names and stir up a whole bunch of problems. Everyone has had an experience with some kind of bullying.
Why do bullies do what they do? Well, honestly I can't answer. There are so many possible answers. At one point I was kind of a jerk at school. I was a little kid experiencing emotional/mental abuse and domestic violence. So yeah, I snapped. I used to lash out. I had reached my breaking point and I finally snapped. I said some very mean things and did some very wrong things. I look back on it and feel ashamed. If I would have just thought for a few more seconds, I could've done so much different. I regret those things I did.
I have had friends tell me that they bullied people in the past to make themselves feel better. In this situation, they felt low. Because of this, they wanted to push everyone else down lower then them to make them feel higher up.
A lot of bullies want control. They have a deep hunger for control. They want others to submit to their will. The only way to make them not push you down is to not let them. I know it's easier said then done, but don't let them get to you.
Bullies only breed more bullies. That's what happened to me for a short while. I was bullied profusely for years. I eventually snapped as everyone has a breaking point. I became angry at being put down, so I said things to put others down.
Don't let them get to you. But how? How do you do this. Well, that's where we move to our next chapter.
