Love. Such a fickle thing. Drawing you in and never letting you go. Even when you think you don't love someone anymore, you see their smile or the way they laugh and there you go again, falling right back into the trap.

I've been there, after all, why would I be writing this out if  I haven't?

Anyway, I fell in love with a boy I couldn't have. My heart fell instantly, but my mind said no for his heart belonged to another.

Her name was Taylor Whitlock. She had hair as golden as the sun and just as bright. Her smile was a white as a sheet of paper and her eyes were an emerald shade of green. Every boy wanted her, but she had her eye on Kalvin, the same boy I had my eyes on.

They were meant to be. They were the perfect couple every cliche love story wrote about. I was the best friend role. Just along for the ride and to make sure they stayed together. I was nothing but a supporting role.

I watched them grow and bloom together. It was interesting, watching my best friend Kal have the time of his life. He had no idea he was killing me on the inside. He never knew I loved him so.

My love for him flowed like a raging river sent from the angry gods of Olympus. I put my every feeling into the deepest part of my heart and locked it away. It was like holding back a hurricane with a few sandbags. Always ready to burst, but somehow still intact.

I was restless for days and nights trying to think of some way to tell him how I felt, but I never did. I constantly backed down and hid in my room. I blocked out my thoughts with music and just watched as Taylor and Kal fell deeper and deeper into love.

Although my love was numbered more than the stars, Kal only had a lukewarm love for me.
