Goodbye

It was 1971 and Melissa had just gotten home from going to the market. "Hello dear, I brought you your favourite beer to have with dinner", she told her husband Richard. "Ya, ya just bring it over woman", he hurried. "Okay" she replied in deep sorrow.

She looked off onto the beautiful sunset over the ocean. She wanted to leave, go far away from here. She hated her home life, her husband ordered her around and she despised him. This is the way it was but she wanted something more, she wanted to be a great sailor. Richard wolf sometimes talk about his day at work out on the ocean. She aspired to just be alone, with the soothing waves under her all the time.

She was at home and her husband wanted her to cook breakfast before work. The big clock posted on the wall read 4:57. It was too early but soon she had to wake up Richard and send him off to work with a full stomach. "No", she said quietly so Richard wouldn't wake up. I don't want to live like this for the rest of my life, She thought. She grabbed her shoulder padded jacket and her high rise flat shoes and ran out of the door. Headed for the docks.

Melissa pushed through the crowds of people heading off to work in hopes to get there before the rest of the sailors. She is going to steal the boat. She ran into the store and used all her savings to buy food and water. She got to the boat and sure enough no one was there. She got on and pulled in the anchor.

When she was young her Father was a sailor and he taught her everything he knew. He died when she was 16 and she moved away because her mom was abusive.

She started the boat and was off. She was pretty far out before the sailors came. She saw them in the distance yelling and waving their arms. She laughed, waved and said "goodbye".
