The moon was full and glowed like a beacon illuminating my surroundings and casting ominous shadows around the clearing. As I looked around, I realised that I was imprisoned by pine trees. Their fangs tore and scratched at my skin, hungry for my blood. Their carnivorous branches distorted and morphed into hands reaching to devour me.  The once glowing pearl in the sky had transformed into a ruby the same shade as my gushing blood. It started to pulse. Faster and faster till seemed like it would explode! It began to expand rapidly moving closer and closer! Its gaping mouth glimmering with fangs as it drew nearer.

I awoke with a jolt; my skin drenched in sweat and trembling like a leaf. As I tried to move, I realised I couldn’t. A ghostly force seemed to hold me captive. My limbs were like dead weights. In the distance, a wolf howled as if it knew my predicament. As if to scorn me.

In my peripheral vision I saw something move. It was back. The taunting shadow danced around me in an almost rehearsed routine. My heart collided into my chest repeatedly begging to be released. A wave of fresh panic seized me as my ability to breathe deserted me. The salty taste in my mouth made me aware that I was indeed crying; bawling like an infant. But in that moment I couldn’t have cared less.

“Please don’t hurt me.” I pleaded “I’ll do anything just let me go!”

The shadow stopped its waltz. I tried desperately to identify a silhouette but I couldn’t. All I saw was distorted gloom. It started to pace furiously. Up, down, up, down, it paced. A pair of luminous, ruby orbs emerged from the darkness startling me further. Then came a nose, then lips, then a full face. She was breath taking. Her cheek bones could’ve been chiselled from stone, her lips full and cherry red. However, her beauty did not distract me from the predatory gleam in her eyes, her feline like grace and most of all, the air of arrogance she exuded. I saw straight through her facade.

“What do you want!?”I received no reply. Instead she stalked towards me reigniting my terror. I struggle against my invisible bindings, my chest heaving with short, quick breaths. I my distracted state I didn’t realise how close she was until ice came in contact with my cheek. Her talon tipped fingers grazed my jaw and continued its path down my neck. Her breath chilled my skin leaving me shivering.

“You wish to leave?”

Still in shock I whimpered out a pitiful “Yes”.

A sinister smirk spread across her face confusing me further.

“Too bad” With those words she lunged for my neck and embedded her fangs deep into my jugular silencing me. I writhed against her but my shackles were too strong. She gulped frantically extracting my life essence like finely brewed ale while I quaked in her arctic arms. I grew dizzy which was quickly followed by black dots spreading across my vision.
