I feel my heart beating
Oh, you make me feel
Like I'm alive again

ELIANA

I followed behind Mr. Novax, and good Lord, the sight; breathtaking. He was well-defined all over the place. I was glad I opted to walk behind him because for one, I would have missed out on the view. Also, though I doubted he would be watching my ass I would have been to self-conscious.

We walked in silence upstairs, and finally arrived at a door. He knocked and walked in. I stayed behind, once again doubting whether I should move or not. My answer came soon when he glanced back with an annoyed look.

"Coming," I mumbled.

"Mama," he said with a smile as walked towards the bed where a woman lay. She looked weak, worn out still, she returned his smile. His aura changed as soon as she smiled back at him, and for a moment the cold man I had met disappeared.

"How are you feeling?"

"Oh, you worry too much," she replied waving him off. She sounded so sweet.

He opened his mouth once again looking serious but stopped himself. Interesting. He has self-control around his mother.

"This is the nurse that will be watching over you when I'm at the firm," he said gesturing for me to get closer. "Her name is Eliana Cruz, mama. Ms. Cruz, this is Marguarite, my mother."

"Hi," I said waving my hand. The woman frowned, and much like her son studied me from head to toe. Her smile had disappeared and I was sure that if she didn't like me I would be jobless pretty quickly.

"Eliana." She repeated my name and nodded. "Is there something you prefer to be called other than your name?"

I cleared the lump that had formed in my throat at the memory. There used to be, but not anymore. I realized I had taken too long to reply when I saw Mr. Novax look at his watch.

"No," I said, forcing a smile. "Eliana is fine."

"I really hope that you're not as slow to react if there's a crisis."

I gasped, only a little offended at Mr. Novax's remark. However, Marguarite nudged her son with her elbow.

"Damian," she scolded. "Stop that."

Damian.

Damian.

Fitting.

"Well, are you ready to start today or are you too asleep?"

I shook my head, feeling flustered.

"No, I can start whenever you want."

He nodded, and turned giving his mother a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be back. Let me show her everything, okay?"
