Prologue

SEPTEMBER 1, 2017

HEIVEN is on her way to Attorney Vaugh Laxon's law firm to accomplish her final research project in Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices subject when suddenly, her phone rang. Ilang buwan nalang ay magtatapos na siya sa kursong Bachelor of Elementary Education. The project is supposed to be done by group pero dahil sadyang tamad ang kanyang mga kasama ay minabuti na lang niyang taposin na mag-isa. Malapit na siya sa sa opisina nang magpasiya itong buksan ang mensahe na galing pa sa ex-boyfriend niya.

Heiven rolled her eyes before throwing her phone to the passenger's seat.

Ano pa bang dapat naming pag-usapan? What I saw is self-explanatory!

Storm is his boyfriend for more than a year, and just like that, he cheated like it wasn't a big deal. What's more frustrating is that she was replaced by her best friend.

Heiven didn't finish what she was supposed to say, the next thing she knew, the man was already covering her mouth with his lips. It was just a peck but it felt like a minute.

"H-how dare you," bulong niya nang makabawi mula sa pagkakahalik ng lalake. Binalingan niya si Attorney Laxon na abala sa pag-aayos ng mga gagamitin niya sa sinasabi nilang seremonya. "Attorney, sa tingin ko nagkakamali kayo. H-hindi ko kilala-"

Umaasa si Heiven na sana biro lang ang lahat ng ito. Luminga-linga siya at umaasang makikita at mahahanap ang mga nagtatagong camera ngunit nabigo siya.

"All right then, Mr. Alvedo hold your fiancé's hands..."

Halos hindi na niya marinig ang sinasabi ng abogado dahil gulong-gulo na siya.

Tulala lamang si Heiven habang nakatingin sa lalaking may hawak ng kamay niya. Kaninang umaga lamang ay inis na inis siya sa ex-boyfriend niya, ngayon naman ay sa lalaking hindi niya kilala. To make it worse, they're going to get married for Pete's sake!

Heiven rolled her eyes while murdering the man on her head. The old man was blabbering something and she just found herself out saying,

"I do."

Sinabi ko ba talaga 'yon? No way. There is no freakin' way!

Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Heiven nang higitin ng lalake ang baywang niya. Their body is too close. She can feel his hot breath on her cheeks.

"Finally, my wife. Mine."

Aangal pa sana si Heiven nang muli niyang maramdaman ang mga labi ng lalake. Half an hour ago he was just a mere stranger for her and now he is his husband.
