The beach house was quiet for the most part. An occasional sound of the house settling echoed through the empty area. It was peaceful. The only movement was of the soft breezes, blowing salty ocean air into the house.
The warp pad's activation broke the silence. And on it, five figures materialized, three of them covered in what could be described as blue slime.
(Y/n), Amethyst and Steven were still laughing about their slime fight. Pearl had refused to join, calling it childish and unsanitary. But Garnet had managed to be a part of it without getting any slime on her. Slowly the laughter died down, and the three realized that the slime would harden soon.
"Well, that was fun," (Y/n) said breathlessly. "But I think I'm going to get this washed off."
"All of you need to get cleaned up." Pearl said. "You're going to get slime everywhere."
"Relax Pearl, this stuff washes off easily. Just make sure you do it fast enough." (Y/n) replied, running a hand through her hair, which was also covered in slime.
What is going on with her? Pearl thought to herself. I can usually rely on her to show at least some responsibility. She's getting as bad as Amethyst.
"Hey, my dad wanted to show me something, I'm gonna go see him." Steven said, starting towards the door.
"Steven, you should really get cleaned up and change into a pair of clean clothes." Pearl tells him, already picking out a new shirt.
(Y/n) starts her way over to the temple door, opening it to her room. She had every intention to wash off the slime. The gem didn't mind being covered in it, but it was irritating once hardened.
(Y/n) cringed slightly as she walked into her room. It wasn't as bad as Amethyst's, but she definitely needed to do some cleaning.
"(Y/n)?"
(Y/n) spun around in surprise, only to have a weary smile appear when she recognized who it was.
"Oh, hey Garnet, didn't realize you followed me."
Garnet glanced around the room, observing some of the trash piles before turning her attention to (Y/n). "I wanted to check that you are feeling alright."
"I'm feeling great." (Y/n) replied, slightly confused. "Why do you ask?"
"It's only that, for the past few days, you haven't been acting like yourself. You've been jumpy, reckless, stressed and apparently very unobservant."
(Y/n) crosses her arms. "Well you're not exactly loud."
Garnet doesn't say anything, and (Y/n) sighs.
"Fine. I guess I've been a little stressed." She says, clearly defeated.
"What about?" Garnet asks, showing some curiosity.
For a moment, (Y/n) hesitates. She holds Garnet's gaze for a moment, then shakes her head.
"It's nothing important." She starts distancing herself from Garnet, and mentally closes herself off, away from what Garnet wants to know.
"(Y/n), it's not only me that's concerned, the rest of the team is too. If you just tell us the problem, we can help you." Garnet takes a step towards (Y/n).
Great, so everyone thinks I'm acting strange... You know, who cares? Who cares what they think, I can do what I want. I'm a big gem, not a kid that needs to be taken care of. (Y/n) thinks to herself.
"You have future vision, so isn't this conversation unnecessary?" (Y/n) asks.
Garnet sighs, shaking her head. "I can't see right, so I don't know what's bothering you."
