Getting Close To The Gangleader

Chapter 6

"I got you."

I turn around and see him standing there with his gun pointing at me. I duck and swing my leg around to knock him down. When he falls I kick the gun away from his reach. He grabs my leg and pulls it so I fall down. I roll over quickly and get up, I pick my gun up and put my foot on his chest to keep him from getting up. I point the gun at him and as I'm about to shoot I hear Lizabelle yell,

"Woo! We won! I got the flag!"

I smile as I look over to where she is and she comes running back. She runs over to me and jumps. I catch her and spin her around. I put her down and she high fives Aaron and Gabriel, when she gets to Zander she sticks her tongue out and says,

"In your face."

I turn to Aaron and Gabriel and say,

"Well, I'm starving so can we go eat?"

"Yeah. Can we go to Burger King?"

"Alright but this time I'm paying."

I nod and Aaron smiles smugly. We start walking away but Gabriel turns around and says,

"Do you guys want to come?"

"Zander can we go? Please?"

"Umm..."

"Yeah, you guys can come. I'm sure the kids will enjoy themselves."

I say and then look at Aaron. He smiles at me and I frown.

"What?"

"You sounded like a parent. It's weird."

"Shut up."

I start walking to the car and Gabriel runs to catch up to me. I smile down at him and he smiles back. When we get to the car he sits in the passenger seat and Aaron pouts.

"Do I really have to sit in the back? He's the child not me."

"Be faster next time."

He mimics me under his breath and I roll my eyes. I drive over to Burger King and Aaron gets on line with Gabriel. I tell him to order whatever he's getting for me and then go find us seats. I sit down at a booth and wait for them to come. I'm looking out the window when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn and see Zander looking down at me.

"Can we sit here?"

"Uh...sure."

"Lizabelle can you go get the drinks please?"

"Okay."

I watch as she runs off and I turn to look at Zander.

"I can see why your gang is at the top. You were great at the paintball arena, you're very swift and agile. Hopefully you can teach me some of your moves."

"I want to apologize for the other day. I thought you were a danger to the gang or Gabriel. You weren't supposed to see me breakdown like that. It's just that I lost control of my emotions and-"

"Ana don't worry. People are allowed to break down sometimes, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm here for you."

"Thank you but...you can't be in the picture. This path you're going down is dangerous. I can tell your sister is a great girl and I wouldn't want anything to happen to her. I think it'd be better if you just stayed away. Please."

I look over to see Aaron along with the kids coming out way and I stand up straight. I smile when they come over to us. I move over and they sit down, Lizabelle and Gabriel sit next to Zander and Aaron takes a seat next to me. He hands me my food and I dig in.

Zander's POV
  
I watch as Ana walks out of the arena with Gabriel and Aaron. I grab Lizabelle's hand and help her take off her gear before walking over to our car. When we get in I look over to Anastasia's car and see Gabriel is in the passenger seat and Aaron trudging over to the back. I put the car in drive when I see them leaving the parking space and follow them. We park in front of a Burger King and we get in line. I notice Ana walk off and I can't help but remember back when we were at the paintball arena.

I look up at her as she pins me down on the ground with her foot and notice she has this cold look on her face. Probably the same look she has when she kills people. When Lizabelle shouts that she had the flag she looks up and smiles. Just like that her whole attitude changed. She's good at hiding her emotions and putting her walls back up. She gets off of me and turns so she catches Lizabelle.

"Excuse me, sir. What are you going to order?"

"Oh um...yeah can I get two cheese burgers and a chicken sandwich, a small drink, and medium drink."

"Will that be all?"

"Yeah, thanks."

I grab the cups and move along.

We have a good time at Burger King and when we're done we throw out the leftovers and get into our cars. I look over at Anastasia's car and meet her gaze. I smile and put the car in drive as I pull out of the parking lot and drive home.
