What's So Special?

Frank sat in the backseat with his earbuds in, which was useless since it was loud enough to be heard by his parents.

He stared longingly out the window as they passed trees that had an unknown lifespan. Tapping his finger on his leg to the beat of the current song that was playing was pretty much the only thing keeping him occupied.

They had been on the road for about three hours and they had very little to go before they arrived.

Frank hated this. He was forced to go on this camping trip for the whole summer. He was going to miss out on his friends' parties, which he was really looking forward to.

He begged his parents to let him stay home but it was useless. They told him that their friend are gonna be there and they want him to socialize with someone who wasn't a bad influence for once.

Frank hated going to family events more than anything. Something about the way his parents' friends would say, "Look how much you've grown!" every time they saw him and pinched his cheeks really made his blood boil. He was nineteen and it got old after a while.

But, Frank could understand where his parents were coming from. Every time he was left alone at the house for a long period of time, it would either get destroyed or he would somehow get arrested. That's not his friends' fault, though. Frank was just defiant and was always looking for trouble.

His parents haven't gone one month without threatening to kick him out because of his troublesome ways, but, this time, Frank almost got his teacher fired. Trying to sleep with his teacher wasn't the best decision on Frank's part but, why not? On top of that, he almost didn't graduate, so his parents decided that the best way for him to learn his lesson was to be taken away to a new atmosphere, at least for a little bit.

Frank hated the idea, but he already puts his parents through so much shit and one summer couldn't hurt, right?

His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed the car come to complete stop. The scenery around him was beautiful, no doubt, but he really didn't want to be here. But, he was going to try to find something good about this trip.

"Donna and Donald Way should be here soon. I think they're gonna bring their son, he's about the same age as you, Frank," Linda smiled. Frank rolled his eyes and muttered a small 'cool' and quickly got out of the car.

One of the worst things about Frank's punishment was he wasn't allowed to bring any of his guitars on this trip. It took him forever to convince his parents to even let him bring his phone for music. They wouldn't even let him take his cigarettes.

Frank headed straight for the "bathroom". A three and a half hour road trip wasn't great, especially if you don't get a bathroom break.

Frank walked out into the forest, far enough not to be seen and when he was done he came back. He noticed a second car next to his family's and he figured it must be the Way's.

He scanned the campsite a little bit, getting used to the surroundings he was going to have to endure for a while.

His gaze stopped at a boy who was sitting on a stump next to a tree, reading a comic book. His hair was was black, shoulder-length, slightly greasy. The boy wore all black clothes, black skinny jeans, a black leather jacket with a Misfits shirt underneath. He seemed to have a layer of black eyeliner plastered onto his hazel eyes. His eyebrows were perfect in a sharp-arched way, they were contorted in interest with every word he seemed to read out of his book.

He must have felt someone staring at him because he looked up from his book, meeting eyes with Frank who was looking at him almost too much.

The black-haired boy looked Frank up and down, chuckled slightly, and went back to reading his book.

Frank looked at him with confusion. What the hell was that? He was used to people looking at him like that, but this guy acted like he didn't like what he saw, and that angered Frank.

Although, something about him was a little enticing. Almost like the way he didn't seem to want Frank, made Frank want him instead.

Camping trips are the worst.
