I sighed as we were pulled into the gym. It was probably another assembly over drug safety. I rolled my eyes when I heard people whispering. All these people were idiots and I just wanted to get through highschool with little problems. Of course people would talk to me, and I did respond and was nice. I sat between Laura, a blonde who calls me her best friend, and Zeke, a really tall boy with black hair and brown eyes. They both asked me what I thought was going on but I only shrugged. It wasn't until a tall man with a large machine behind him. He clapped his hands together to get our attention.
"Ok children, I am Dr. Trinity. Your school has allowed me to test an experiment on one of you. I am very excited for what might happen." Everyone muttered and gasped at this. I just rolled my eyes. "This machine behind me will transport one of you to a different dimension. It will only take one of you and for a short amount of time. So would anyone like to volunteer?" No one said a word. Either they didn't believe it, or they didn't care. I myself was interested in it. I looked around to see that no one dared stand up. "Oh did I mention it could be dangerous?" At this I stood without even thinking. I ran down the bleachers and onto the court. The doctor smiled at me, clearly knowing something I didn't, and patted my shoulder.
"I'm ready for whatever you throw at me." I said wryly. The doctor glanced around the bleachers, seeing if there was anyone else who might want to do it. After no success, he sighed and took me over to a platform under the machine.
"Now this might hurt a little." I nodded to him. "Are you sure you are up to this?" I nodded again, starting to get annoyed. "If you're having sec-"
"SHUT UP AND START IT ALREADY OLD MAN!" He jumped and started the machine. A blue light appeared above me. It shined until I could barely see. I felt as the ground melted away and everything felt like static. And in a instant the world I knew was gone.
