[chapter sixty-three: "quality time"]

Start from the beginning

Nah, I doubt it. Eric Bischoff will always be a heaping pile of shit.

I reach forward and grab my glass off the table, though I only take a couple of sips of wine before sitting it back down. I then scoot back over to Kevin and lay my head in his lap. I lay with my back on the couch and my face looking up towards the ceiling.

"So, what do you want to do for Christmas this year?" Kev asks as his fingers begin to comb through my hair. I love when he does this. "Do you want it to be just us, or...?"

This year, we really don't have many options for Christmas. I'd love it if the Kliq could completely meet up, but there's not a chance in hell of that happening.

Shawn's a mess, and we've not even heard from him in a couple of months. I can't tell if I want to be mad at him or not, considering how much shit he's going through. I'm not happy with the way he's treated the rest of us, but I know there's at a some-what decent guy hidden somewhere deep inside of Hickenbottom.

Let's just hope that guy doesn't lose the fight with Shawn's demons.

Paul and Kid are too busy to even bother trying to meet up with. Besides, I'm sure if they're free, they'll probably just spend the holiday with their families. Paul has been trying to figure his romantic life out lately, too, so I'd say he's definitely wanting to spend some time alone with Joanie this Christmas.

I've only met Joanie once, so I don't know how I really feel about her. Paul, Shawn, and Kid like her, so that's good enough for me.

Unless she hurts Paul. In that case, fuck her.

Scott's spending Christmas with his ex and Cody, something that I hope goes well for him. I know he's been really looking forward to the time with Cody, and I'm glad for him.

Scott deserves all of the happiness in the world. I want him to enjoy life.

Meanwhile, my beloved brother and his beautiful wife are going on a trip for Christmas. Neither Dally nor Kim have really said anything about where they're going or what they're going to do, but they both seem really excited about it.

I bet they're going to fuck a lot. Dally has always liked to give me hell for how much I enjoy sex, but he's a wild animal himself. Little bitch can't lie to me.

"Do you have any family you would want to visit?" I ask.

"Not really. There's no one I'm dying to see." Kev shrugs indifferently. He goes quiet for a moment before looking down at me and asking, "You?"

"Oh hell no." I laugh. "I took one look at mom's invitation when it arrived and I tossed that shit in the trash."

"Who all would be there?" Kev's question makes me groan.

"It's usually just my parents, but sometimes my aunts and uncles and all of those fuckers show up." I look over at Kev. "Don't tell me you want to meet them."

"I guess it's more of a morbid curiosity than anything." Kev admits. "You've barely mentioned your parents, and I kind of want to see how lame they are." He then pauses and asks, "Unless being around them would fuck with your mind."

"Nah, it's nothing like that. My parents are shitty, but they're not Thomas shitty. They've just never given a damn about me unless I've been able to be of use to them." I then sit up and raise a brow at Kev. "Do you really want to spend Christmas with my family?"

"How far away from your place do your parents live?" Kev asks next.

"Not too far. They live about an hour and a half away from me, but they've never tried to visit me. Oh, but goddamn, mom can send me invites in the mail." I have to roll my eyes.

"I think it's worth a shot, then." Kev grabs both of my hands and rubs his thumbs over the backs of them. "If it gets to be too shitty, we'll just bail."

"To be fair, I don't think it'll be shitty." I mutter. "I mean, I'll probably end up in a fight with at least mom, but that's okay."

"We don't have to go if you don't want to, babe." Kev kisses my cheek. I smile and then connect our lips for a quick second.

"You know what? Fuck it." I say with a small laugh. "Let's do it. Why not?" I then shoot Kev a grin. "If nothing else, we can always laugh at them."

"True enough." I know it's probably going to be a mess, but hey, I know my parents aren't going to hurt me.

I never thought that the first Christmas Kev and I would spend together as a couple would be with my family, but I guess life has a funny way of working. Let's see how this plays out.
