Kerstin woke up in the late evening. She came back from the Hissing Wastes today in the morning and was too tired to stay up.
She looked around her bedroom for a while until she spotted the big pile of snow on her balcony. She jumped up from her bed and quickly ran to the snow. Kersin loves snow and after coming home from a desert, it was more than welcome. She kneeled in front of it, her hand full of the snow. Her hands started to get cold. She stood up to quickly grab some gloves, but realized that the whole fortress was covered in snow. She almost cheered out of happiness.
"Kerstin my love, are you awake?", Cullen asked. He knocked on the door.
"Yes Cullen. Come in quickly!", Kerstin answered.
She must have scared Cullen. He almost kicked the door open and came running up the stairs.
"Did something happen?", he asked out of breath.
"No.", Kerstin laughed, turning around to look into his face. Warmth filled her heart as she saw him. He wore a plain red shirt and comfy trousers. Normally he always wore his armor. His scar moved as he started to smile and his eyes did not leave Kerstin.
It was at this moment, she realized, she still wore her shirt for the night and only pants.
"We are all waiting for you.", Cullen said very quiet. "Did you forget?"
"What?", Kerstin asked confused while she was searching for her armor.
"Varric organised a little party. For Christmas.", Cullen shook his head and laughed. He knew Kerstin was going to forget.
"I'll be there in a few minutes! I really forgot! Just tell him a still have to wrap gifts.", and with that, Kerstin ran into her bathroom, freshing herself up.
A warm wave came towards her as she stepped inside the tavern. Skyhold was completely covered in a thick layer of snow and the air was cold.
People were talking to each other, stoping for a second when the Inquisitor entered, but continuing after she nodded.
"Ah, Inquisitior." Maryden the bard walked to her. "Your friends are upstairs, they reserved a room."
Kerstin entered the separeted room.
"Wolfcub! You finally made it!", Varric laughed approaching Kerstin and giving her a warm hug. "We all waited for you!"
And he did not lie with 'we all'. All of them were here. From Cassandra to Leliana to Solas. Every single one. Kerstin was overwhelmed. This was a very special moment. They never were gathered in a room like that.
After Kerstin sat down next to Cullen and Cole, they started to share stories about their lives and funny moments. Mulled wine was comsumed heavily.
After a good hour, Varric stood up and left the room, only to come back with a pile of presents.
"I have a few gifts for you all!", he smiled while handing out presents. Kerstin was surprised. Suddenly everyone got up to get their presents as well. She wasn't the only one who had brought gifts.
Two hours of unwrapping gifts went by and Kerstin couln't be happier. She got fur to cover her saddle, new gloves and much more. Luckily everyone else was happy with her gifts as well. The gift for Cullen was still in her pocket, she wanted to give him his in a more quiet moment. Cullen seemed to think the same.
They presumed with drinking and storytelling for the rest of the night.
"Love, I have a surpise for you. Do you mind if we leave this party for a while?", Cullen whispered into her ear. A shiver went down Kerstins spine.
"Of course.", Kerstin nodded.
"Well, I had a great time today.", Cullen announced loudly so everyone could hear him. "I better get to my office, I have a lot of work to do."
"Come on Curly! We all know you want to take Kerstin away from us! Why don't you just say so?", Varric laughed. Their relationship was public, but it felt awkward still.
"Alright, I am going to take Kerstin with me!", Cullen put his hands on his hip. He was clearly a bt drunk.
